Abstract: .epsilon.-Caprolactam is produced efficiently with high selectivity by contacting cyclohexanone oxime in gas phase with a solid catalyst which is a crystalline zeolite having a pore size smaller than molecular size of cyclohexanone oxime or a crystalline zeolite having closed pores.
