    摘要: An improved mechanical seal for a pump includes a seal cartridge slidably received inside an end plate. The cartridge includes an outer cylindrical stator member which is slidably received in the end plate and an inner cylindrical rotor which is rotatable within the stator member. The stator member is prevented from rotation in the end plate. The stator member includes a shoulder which extends outwardly over the end plate and is captured between the end plate and the housing of the pump. A clinching collar is fixed to the rotor member and retains the rotor member of the cartridge to the pump shaft. The clinching collar may pass through the end plate while attached to the rotor member and pump shaft. Lubricating passageways in the end plate allow lubricants to circulate past the seal cartridge bearing surfaces.

    摘要: A face seal assembly with internal weep drain is disclosed for use in a turbo-machine, such as a gas turbine engine, for deterring passage of fluids, such as oil and the like, across an interface dividing the turbo-machine into two distinct regions, the interface being defined between one surface of a seal element and a second surface mounted on a rotating shaft. The face seal assembly includes a housing having a first fixed member including a drain opening, a second member supported for axial motion relative to the first member, and a biasing element positioned between the first and second members for urging the second member toward the interface. The second member supports the seal element and defines with the first member a channel through which the fluids that migrate past the interface are directed into the housing and out through the drain opening. Various housing configurations and sealing arrangements are disclosed, all of which effectively control release of oil and smoke into the atmosphere without affecting the axial length or weight of the sealing system.

    摘要: A split mechanical face seal that provides fluid sealing between a housing and a rotating shaft includes first and second seal rings each having at least two seal ring segments and a radially extending seal face. The seal ring faces of the seal rings are opposed to one another. One of the seal rings is connected to the rotating shaft to rotate therewith, while the other seal ring is connected to the housing. The split seal also includes a continuous, circumferential groove formed in the seal face of the first seal ring for introducing a fluid to the seal faces of the first and second seal rings to establish a seal therebetween. A split support member having at least two support segments for coupling the first seal ring to the housing or the rotating shaft is also provided. The split face seal is operable as both a contacting and a non-contacting mechanical face seal.

    摘要: A mechanical seal of the invention includes relatively rotatable seal rings and a secondary seal therefore. The secondary seal is a C-shaped spring loaded gasket having upper and lower gasket legs. The gasket is provided between two of the seal components, for example, between an axially movable seal ring and a bellows flange. The gasket has one leg thereof confined axially to transmit axial loads between the seal ring and the bellows flange. Also, the upper and lower gasket legs are biased axially apart by a spring to permit radial movement between the seal ring and the bellows flange and also accommodate different rates of thermal expansion between the seal ring and bellows flange.

The compression ring 21 has the outer circumference projections 30 that are fixed in the groove 40 extending in the axial direction at the inner surface of the flange 22 . With this construction, the compression ring 21 can move in the axial direction and is stopped in the rotational direction. The compression ring 21 is pressed by the springs 23. Thus the compression ring 21 works as a stopper to stop the rotation of the seal ring 20 and as a spring receiver.
