    摘要: A pipefitter's protractor is used to measure the angle between two separate pipes having an intersecting point. The protractor assembly includes a pipe attachment bar secured to the squared end of one pipe, with a protractor arm extending from the center of the pipe attachment bar and concentric with the centerline of the pipe. The protractor extends from the arm, with the arm and protractor rotating about the pipe attachment bar fitting to align the protractor plate coplanar with the plane defined by the pipes. The protractor is adjusted along the protractor arm to position the protractor origin at the intersection of the pipe centerlines, and a line is run from the origin to the center of the second pipe. The angle between the pipes and the distances from the protractor origin to the ends of each pipe are then used for fabricating an elbow to join the pipes.

    摘要: A method for, without contact and with the aid of a measuring device, measuring in connection to an envelope surface of a measured object with respect to its cylindricity and/or its straightness relative to a straightness reference arranged parallel with the axis of rotation of the measured object, which measuring device besides said straightness reference comprises a measuring stand and a measuring carriage at which at least one measuring means is arranged, which measuring carriage is traversed along a support member parallel to said axis of rotation. According to the invention the measurement commences with a starting position for the measuring means relative the straightness reference and the measured object being determined, whereby a first measurement is performed for this starting position, after which the measuring means is moved to a further position along the support member while these new positions are continuously determined relative each other or said starting position, whereupon a measurement occurs. A laser beam is used as straightness reference, said laser beam being protected from external influence along at least a part of its length by a protective device. The invention also relates to a measuring device of the type described.

    摘要: A surface profiler comprises at least one mass resiliently supported in relation to the frame of the profiler to exert a downward force opposing upward movement of the frame when the wheels pass over an obstacle. Two such masses may be constrained for substantially vertical movement by tie rods extending from pivoting suspension bars secured on distal portions of the frame. A pivoting bracket optionally connects to a handle or to a motor drive unit for propelling the apparatus. The bracket is pivoted about the center point of a line joining the centers of the wheel axles to avoid any torque on the apparatus as a result of operator manipulation.

    摘要: A method is disclosed by which precision alignment of optical fiber to wave-guide or other optical elements can be carried out with an adjustable microstructure in active alignment mode fiber attachment. A microstructure containing three elongated U-grooves can be combined effectively to produce a movable and adjustable V-groove structure, which can be used to achieve sub-micron scale alignment control with zero rotational torque. This device not only makes fiber alignment easy and fast but also maintains the fiber attachment position after alignment and epoxy bonding. Multiple fiber array alignment can be carried out with only a global alignment of two end fibers.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in orienting an object at a reference angle includes a pin gauge having at least two projections located at an end of the body of the apparatus. The projections are located at certain X Y coordinates of an X, Y Z Cartesian coordinate system. A horizontal support supports the body so as to be movable horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the projections. A mechanical drive member is operable to move the body mechanically in the horizontal direction. The apparatus may also include a vertical support and vertical drive member. The pin gauge is mechanically moved into contact with a surface of an object to provide a reference angle for the object. Then the object is pivoted, if necessary, to bring the surface into point contact with all of the projections of the pin gauge, whereupon the object is oriented at the reference angle. Process errors in aligning the object using the reference angle are reduced because the orienting of the object at the reference angle is accomplished using mechanical elements.

    摘要: Apparatuses and methods for determining the position of a part on a vehicle are provided. The methods comprise measuring the respective distances from first and second measuring locations to each of a plurality of measuring points associated with the part whose position is to be determined. The position of each of the measuring points is then calculated relative to a fixed location, and these values are compared to determine the position of the part. The inventive apparatus comprises a main body which is attached to the vehicle. The main body includes an elongate member extending substantially therefrom and mounted to pivot relative to the main body about a pivot point central to the location of attachment of the main body to the vehicle. Finally, the main body comprises a retractable wire which can be extended to droppers removably fixed to the vehicle at various pick-up points. A sensing unit determines the distance from the main body to the pick-up point from the length of wire extended.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for aligning a housing such as a flywheel housing with a crankshaft or other rotating member. The apparatus includes a main shaft and a mount by which the main shaft is mounted to the center axis of a member rotating in a housing. A sleeve is received upon and rotates relative to the main shaft and is provided with a mount for a dial indicator. The dial indicator is positioned so that any misalignment between the rotating member and the housing is output by the dial indicator as the sleeve is rotated relative to the housing. Depending upon the output of the dial indicator, the position of the housing is changed relative to the rotating member to align the center axis of the rotating member with the center axis of the housing.

A center axis of each of the elastic bodies is inclined with respect to the rotation axis of the lower rotary plate to which each of the elastic bodies is coupled. Thus, when parts having different lengths are to be assembled, the assembly of the parts can be easily performed only by rotating the rotary plates and the elastic bodies without changing the RCA system to cope with various lengths of the parts. Time and cost of the assembly process can be reduced.
