    摘要: Methods and apparatuses for measuring an electrical property of the ground. The apparatus includes a graphite electrode. The graphite electrode includes a graphite body and a first and second opening. The first opening extends longitudinally throughout the graphite body and is configured to receive a multi-wire cable. The second opening is configured to secure one or more wires of the multi-wire cable to the graphite body. Using a graphite electrode, measurements of the ground can be made over a long period of time without having to clean or otherwise maintain the electrodes because the graphite material withstands operating conditions over many years without degradation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for obtaining a resistivity measurement of an earth formation surrounding a borehole in an MWD device uses an electrode for injecting current into the earth formation and an electrode for obtaining a responsive signal from the borehole. The electrodes are located on the drill bit arm or blade. Measured resistivity values are obtained at the location of the drill bit. Measurements can be taken in both oil-based mud and water-based mud environments. Maximum or minimum resistivity can be used to best represent the resistivity of the surrounding formation.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a drill string fitted with information transmission means. The hollow rods of conductive material have their inside faces covered in an insulating material. The transmission means comprise a first electrical unit having at least a first annular electrode secured to the insulating inside face of the drill string, said electrode being in electrical contact with the mud contained inside the drill string so as to establish a flow of current in the conductive mud; and a second electrical unit disposed in said borehole, close to the top end of the drill string in order at least to receive the information contained in said electrical current.
