    摘要: A quadrupole responder for an OQR-type gravity gradiometer comprises a housing, and a mass quadrupole positioned within the housing. The mass quadrupole has a pair of sides, and also has a center of mass between the sides. At least a pair of torsion spring flexures are provided by pins connecting said side of said mass quadrupole to the housing. The torsion spring flexures provide an axis of rotation which passes through the center of mass of the mass quadrupole and through both spring flexures. The pins are integral with the mass quadrupole.

    摘要: A quadrupole responder for an OQR-type gravity gradiometer comprises a housing, and a mass quadrupole positioned within the housing. The mass quadrupole has a pair of sides, and also has a center of mass between the sides. The quadruple responder further comprises at least two torsion spring flexures. The torsion spring flexures are provided by pins connecting each side of the mass quadrupole to the housing. The torsion spring flexures provide an axis of rotation which passes through the center of mass of the mass quadrupole and through both torsion spring flexures.

    摘要: A gravity gradiometer for measuring off-diagonal components of the gravitational gradient tensor includes a housing comprising a pair of electromagnetic shield enclosures (22, 23) arranged one inside the other, and a body (25) including superconducting material mounted within the inner enclosure (23) for fine pivotal flexure about an axis passing substantially through the center of mass of the aforesaid body. An array of superconducting coils (30) is supported by the outer enclosure (22) and positioned in close proximity to the aforesaid body (25) for diamagnetically applying a rotational force to the body with respect to the axis of flexure and/or for responding by modulation of inductance to pivotal flexure of the body arising from a gravitational gradient across the body. The array is arranged to apply the rotational force in both rotational directions and to respond to flexure in either rotational direction. Also disclosed is a flexural pivot bearing which comprises a pair of members (28, 31) with opposed close-spaced faces. These faces are joined by a web (29), of microscopic thickness, in a plane intersecting the faces. The members and the web are consisted of an integral body of substantially uniform, material, and the members are adapted for pivoted mutual flexure about a pivot axis aligned along said web.

    摘要: The present disclosure provides a gravity gradiometer that comprises a detector for detecting a gravity gradient. The detector comprises at least one movable sensing element and that is arranged to generate a signal in response to a change in gravity gradient. The gravity gradiometer also comprises a support structure for supporting the detector in an aircraft and a component that is arranged to reduce transmission of an aircraft acceleration to the detector. The at least one movable sensing element and the support structure together are arranged to reduce an influence of the aircraft acceleration on the signal by a factor of at least 107 when the gravity gradiometer is airborne and exposed to the aircraft acceleration.
