A personalized training system, and a method of fitness training, are disclosed. The personalized training system includes a fitness device, into which a user enters a first plurality of user information, including a choice of an automated interactive learned program mode or an automated fitness test mode, an automated control location that receives the first plurality of user information, and a second plurality of user information during each use of the fitness device by the user, a performance assessor that assesses a performance of the user during each use of a plurality of uses based on a comparison of the second plurality of user information to the first plurality, a performance database incrementally formed by at least the plurality of performance assessments, and a fitness comparator that adjusts the use based on a comparison of the performance database to the second plurality. The method includes entering by a user a first plurality of user information, including a choosing of an automated interactive learned program mode or an automated fitness test mode, providing an automated control location, receiving the first plurality of user information at the automated control location, monitoring a second plurality of user information during each use of the fitness device by the user, performing an assessment of a performance of said user during each use of a plurality of uses, based on a comparing of the second plurality of user information to the first plurality, incrementally generating, over the plurality of uses, a performance database, and adjusting the use based on a comparing of the performance database to the second plurality.

This invention relates to an automated method for identifying matches between a set of predetermined traits and a set of preferences. This method can be used to find compatible matches in a variety of situation s where participants are identified by a profile of traits and a set of criteria desired in at match, including, for example, matching candidates to residency program, and matching job hunters with employment opportunities. The present invention offers advantages and improvements over prior computer matching systems because, it provides an automated, effective method for matching traits with corresponding preferences and insures that only matches of the highest degree are made. The, present invention utilizes two-way matching of selected criteria, which measures not only how compatible the potential match is with the desired traits of the user, but also how well the user fits the potential match's idea of the perfect match.

An exercise system including an exercise device at a user location includes a controller at the user location for controlling the exercise device. A control location remote from the user location and a communication system for transmitting information between the exercise device and the control location are provided. A sensor at the user location determines user location information and applies the user location information to the communication system for transmission to the control location. Control information is applied to the communication system by the control location in response to the user location information for transmission to the controller to control the exercise device according to the control information. Thus, the present invention is an interactive fitness system for permitting a user of a programmable exercise device to interact with a fitness server device while the user is in a location remote from the fitness server device. For example, the user can interact with the fitness server device from the home of the user. Using the system of the present invention the user can download new fitness equipment programs for controlling the exercise equipment. The user can also interact with fitness experts on-line and provide exercise information and receive control information wherein the received control information can permit interaction between the fitness server device and the user.

Full text data is divided into words to generate word separation data. All character strings are extracted from the full text data, each character string including N characters. The word separation and position data is attached to each character string to generate index data. In word retrieving, character and segmentation agreement between query data and all character strings is checked. Word retrieving and/or character string retrieving are effected according to a selection command. The word separation data may include leading or trailing end data. In the word retrieving mode, the leading end of the first character and the trailing end of the last character are checked but the intermediate portion is not checked. Continuity of retrieve character strings is checked with reference to position data thereof. The word retrieving mode includes a number of modes including the completion agreement mode. A non-target word in retrieving is detected according to a word class and the word separation data is not attached to the non-target word. The word separation data is not attached to words of the affix. Sets of full text data are retrieved and the matching degrees are detected and the sets of full text data are ordered to provide various text agreement. The matching degree is also calculated with an operator.
