The present invention is intended to provide an actuator gripping device which prevents the actuator of the head support device from serious trouble such as damage to the surface of the recording medium due to external shocks, and a disk drive provided with the device. Specifically, it is configured in that actuator 7 comprises actuator sub-unit 27 having a tab 8 at one end and provided with a read and/or write head 9, and a voice coil 10 mounted at the other end, a pivot pedestal 30 with a pair of abutments, and a spring plate 28 having an activating force to push the read and/or write head 9 toward the recording medium 4, and that the actuator gripping device for gripping the actuator 7 comprises a ramp 14 formed with the first stepped side surface 14d and the second stepped side surface 14f having a specified angle respectively at either side of the second plane 14e on which the tab 8 is abutted at the shunt position in stop mode of the recording medium 4. A system and method for measuring and neutralizing the electrical charge at the interface of a magnetic head and a magnetic storage medium, such as a disk, is disclosed. A surface treatment material is applied to the magnetic head. The surface treatment material matches the medium surface material on the surface of the magnetic storage medium. The surface treatment material on the magnetic read/write head may be a fluorinated carbon, such as a Fomblin Z-derivative, perfluoro alkyl trichlorosilane, a FC-722, or a fluorinated polymer. The surface treatment material can be applied to the magnetic head by a vapor deposition process or by a liquid immersion process. The charge on the head-disk interface can be measured by applying varying external charges to the head while reading a signal previously written to the disk.

The aeroelastic deposit has a third coefficient of expansion responsive to the stimulus that is greater than the first coefficient of expansion. The present invention provides a device for in-situ measurement and recording of various environmental parameters in a semiconductor fabrication process. The device comprises sensors for detecting the parameters and converting them to sensor outputs; and a data logger coupled to the sensors for receiving the sensor outputs and logging them in a file. The device may also comprise an analog to digital converter to convert the sensor outputs to digital data and a communication module to communicate the digital data with other devices. When applied to reticles used in a semiconductor fabrication process comprising a plurality of stages, the device may be used to monitor electrostatic field and electrostatic discharge activities on and around the reticle, convert the monitored parameters into data, and log the data along with a timestamp and an identification of each individual stage. Logged data can be retrieved and analyzed to determine the time and location of detrimental activities such as electrostatic discharge on reticles.

The present invention is directed towards air-bearing sliders that are used in disk drives. The invention involves pitching a slider so that the leading portion of the slider is closer to the disk than the trailing portion of the slider. The negative pitch reduces the sensitivity of the slider to ambient air pressure, radial position, and to data accessing over the disk. When used in combination with a reverse-flow disk drive, negatively pitched sliders facilitate the routing of traces to the head.
