摘要： When a disk tray stops beyond or before a predetermined rotational position, there has heretofore been a likelihood of the disk tray being unable to be inhibited its rotation. As an arm portion 261b is displaced counterclockwise, a shaft portion 262b of a rotary stopper 262 moves toward an engaging groove 223, so that a sharp portion 262a1 is inserted into the engaging groove 223. At this time, slant faces formed on both sides of the tip of the sharp portion are guided along slant faces of the engaging groove 223 and are inserted to an inner part of the engaging groove. Thus, even when a rotary tray 220 stops at a position deviated from the predetermined rotational position, it is possible to surely inhibit the rotation of the rotary tray 220.

摘要： A portable, fully enclosed compact disc storage apparatus or unit is provided which stores a multiplicity of discs, without risk of damage to their written surfaces. The storage unit comprises a two-part toroidal shaped housing, a circular magazine for supporting the discs, engaged on their unwritten edges by pairs of raised projections limited in height to that of the unwritten portion of a disc. A user-actuated lever engages the bottom of the discs and lift them from the magazine and out of the housing through an access slot. An indexing knob and notches means aligns a disc with the access slot and prevents unwanted rotation of the magazine relative to the housing between disc access and removal. A series of numbers are formed on the outer circumferential flanged edge of the magazine to aid in cataloging and identifying the magazine's contents.

The recording and/or playback portion conducts recording and/or playback of the disklike recording media. The ejecting operation mechanism penetrates from the opening portion of the receiving portion and ejects a desired disklike recording medium out of the disklike recording media, from the supporting portion. The loading mechanism takes out the desired disklike recording medium, which has been ejected from the supporting portion by the ejecting operation mechanism, from the receiving portion and loads the desired disklike recording medium onto the recording and/or playback portion. The positioning mechanism rotates the receiving portion and makes the desired disklike recording medium and the loading mechanism oppose to each other.

摘要： Automatic disc changer apparatus includes a tray containing elastomeric grooves designed to securely hold multiple compact information storage discs in generally upright positions, one or more stations, each performing processing operations on discs transferred from the tray one at a time (operations such as reading information from discs and/or writing information to them), means for effecting relative movement between the tray and the stations for aligning a selected groove in the tray with a station, a transfer mechanism associated with each station for moving a disc from the selected groove to a loading position at the station, and from that position back to the tray, in controllably driven rotations, and latch means for laterally moving the disc between the loading position and a processing station. In the controllably driven rotation, top and bottom edges of each selected disc are flexibly constrained while a force is applied to the disc tangential to its top edge. After processing, the selected disc is returned to the tray in a controllably driven reverse rotation. In the rotation from the loading position back to the tray, the selected disc may be returned to the tray either at the groove position from which it was previously removed or a different groove position.

摘要： A disc changer for storing disc-shaped information carriers and transporting the information carriers into and out of a scanning position in an information disc player includes a closed stationary guiding track which is bounded, viewed in a direction perpendicular to a transport direction, by a stationary rolling track and a driving member. The guiding track has a width which substantially corresponds to a diameter of the information carriers, so that the information carriers stored in the guiding track are rolled along the rolling track by cooperation of the driving member with a circumferential part of the information carriers. The guiding track is annular and is bounded by a circular cylindrical rolling surface of the rolling track and a roller of the driving member, the roller being rotatable about an axis of rotation coinciding with a common central axis of the guiding track and the rolling track. The driving member is the only part of the disc changer that is rotatable, and the disc changer does not have any further displaceable parts. Since the driving member only has a relatively small moment of inertia relative to the axis of rotation, a mechanical torque to be exerted on the driving member for transporting the information carriers is considerably reduced.
