It is adapted to judge whether there is line correlation among neighboring signal lines including a signal line to be separated during each of the horizontal scanning intervals. A stripe component judging section is adapted to judge whether an image having vertical stripes is contained in the composite signal. A filter section having first and second filters is used selectively depending on correlation results, and a selecting section is adapted to output a signal to select one of filters in accordance with judgment results from both judging sections. The decoder is capable of preventing decreases in resolution in images having vertical stripes.

    摘要: A digital comb filter for decoding composite video signals into a luminance and a chrominance component. A Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) circuit or a band split filter circuit is used to determine important characteristics of an input video signal without demodulating the video signal. The circuits produce a signature signal by which each of the video lines can be correlated. Signature signals on various surrounding video lines that are of opposite subcarrier phase with the current line are compared to determine similarity and appropriate weighting coefficients for the surrounding lines. If none of the surrounding lines are similar, the comb reverts to a band split filter to form chrominance. A noise measure circuit determines an error signal input used to adjust the weighting coefficients as the noise level increases or decreases. Multiplexer combines high pass and low pass taps of a band split filter into a single data stream. Line delays, together with field delay memories, provide the interlaced line above and below the current line. for the comb filter. Interframe motion detector gives priority to the frame comb signal when no motion is detected between the current line and the frame delayed signal in the same vertical position as the current line. Dynamic threshold modification is used to suppress unwarranted comb filter failures in the presence of luma edges.

When the image signals corresponding to the remaining portion other than the edge are processed, the selector circuits 12a to 12c select outputs from large-tap-number color separation filters 9a to 9c and 11a to 11c, respectively. A ratio calculator circuit 16 calculates, from the luminance signals fed from adder circuits 13a to 13c, the value by which a multiplier circuit 18 performs multiplication. The multiplier circuit 18 multiplies, by this value calculated by the ratio calculator circuit 16, the color separation signals added together by an adder circuit 17 so that, of all the color separation signals of which there are two kinds, those of one kind are vertically interpolated.

    摘要: In an image signal input apparatus that performs high-speed input processing of an image signal and, in particular, a brightness signal, a video signal is processed by a clamping circuit so as to achieve a constant reference level, and then input to an A/D converter. The A/D converter samples the video signal synchronously with a clock signal of a frequency 4fsc. The output of the A/D converter is input to a selector directly or via a 4-data arithmetic mean circuit. The 4-data arithmetic mean circuit obtains an arithmetic mean of every four consecutive data output from the A/D converter. The obtained 4-data arithmetic mean data correspond to the brightness signal. After the 4-data arithmetic mean data is stored in a memory through a DMA controller, the data is output to a personal computer via a Centronics® interface, thereby reducing the amount of data memory necessary for input processing to a quarter of the normal amount.

    摘要: A video decoder for decoding a composite video signal. The decoder includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), an input resampler, and a Y/C separator, all coupled in series. The ADC receives and digitizes the composite video signal to generate ADC samples. The input resampler receives and resamples the ADC samples with a first resampling signal to generate resampled video samples. The Y/C separator receives and separates the resampled video samples into luminance and chrominance components. The Y/C separator includes a delay element configured to receive the resampled video samples and provide a variable amount of delay. The variable amount of delay can be adjustable from line to line, and is typically based on an approximated duration of a video line. For an NTSC signal, the variable delay is select to be (m·n+m/2) samples, where m is a ratio of frequencies of the resampling signal and a color subcarrier of the composite video signal, and n is an integer selected such that (m·n+m/2) samples most approximate the duration of a video line. For a PAL signal, the variable delay is selected to be (m·n+3m/4) samples.

    摘要: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for YC separation and three-line correlation detection with high accuracy, which allow the YC separator to generate reliable Y signals. The correlation detecting apparatus includes a sub-correlation detector. The detector checks input signals for the presence or absence of vertical correlation, and provides the signals with a judgment “high-correlation exists” or “otherwise”. According to the judgment, the correlation detecting apparatus changes the process; i) when accepted the judgment “high-correlation exists”, the apparatus determines the judgment to be reliable and adopts it as the output, ii) when accepted “otherwise”, the apparatus increases its detecting accuracy and provides the signals with multi-leveled outputs according to the correlation levels. In this way, the main apparatus switches the detecting mode according to the result from sub-correlation detector, with the detecting accuracy greatly improved. This also allows the YC separator to flexibly cope with input signals.

    摘要: A method and system for performing combing for PAL luma data is disclosed. The combing is performed for a display having a plurality of lines. The display is capable of depicting a frame including a horizontal boundary having a top edge and a bottom edge. A top line of the plurality of lines is at the top edge of the horizontal boundary. A bottom line of the plurality of lines is at the bottom edge of the horizontal boundary. The method and system includes providing a feedback multiplexer, a line delay and a feed forward multiplexer. The feedback multiplexer has a first input, a second input and a first output. The first input is for receiving luma data for a current line. The line delay has a delay input and a delay output, the delay input coupled with the first output. The delay output is coupled with the second input. The feed forward multiplexer has a third input, a fourth input and a second output. The third input is coupled with the delay output. The fourth input is for receiving the luma data for the current line. The feedback multiplexer is controlled to provide fedback luma data from the second input to the first output when the current line is the top line and to provide the luma data for the current line from the first input to the first output otherwise. The feed forward multiplexer is controlled to provide next line luma data from the fourth input to the second output when the current line is the bottom line and to provide the luma data from the current line to the second output otherwise.
