摘要: A forest fire retardant composition contains a retardant compound that includes a halide salt, a non-halide salt, a metal oxide, a metal hydroxide, or combinations thereof. The forest fire retardant composition may include at least one anhydrous salt and at least one hydrate salt. The halide salt may be magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, or both. The magnesium chloride hydrate has a formula MgCl2(H2O)x, wherein x is at least one of x=1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12. The calcium chloride hydrate has a formula CaCl2(H2O)x, wherein x is at least one of 1, 2, 4, or 6. The composition may be in the form of a dry concentrate, a liquid concentrate, or a final diluted product. The final diluted product is effective in suppressing, retarding, and controlling forest fires while exhibiting corrosion resistance and low toxicity.

摘要: A fire barrier includes an inflatable base deployable from an empty state to a fully inflated state and a first row of panels including a plurality of first panels disposed on the inflatable base. The base supports the plurality of first panels in an upright state when the inflatable base is in the fully inflated state, thereby forming a wall having a front side and a rear side opposing the front side. Each of the plurality of panels is independently elastically bendable with respect to the inflatable base. A coating of an infrared reflective material is disposed on each of the plurality of panels on the front side of the wall.

摘要: An intelligent sewage system designed for use in municipalities around the Wildland Urban Interface incorporates a decentralized network of wastewater treatment units to process wastewater from a plurality of parcels. The decentralized wastewater treatment units spread a Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) reduction of the wastewater throughout the system and effluent is delivered efficiently through a pressure sewage system. Non-potable and potable water supplies are generated and delivered to individually separable water distribution zones throughout the municipality. The system also provides an auxiliary high-pressure, high-flow non-potable water supply to compensate during depressurization events and bolster the water distribution zones in the event of a wildfire emergency event. The intelligent sewage system also incorporates a comprehensive wildfire defense network and a supervisory control and data acquisition system which work in concert to harden the municipality against wildfire risks and combat active wildfires.

摘要: A method of providing a deluge system (10) on a boom (12) such as a boom that is used to conduct well flaring operations at an end thereof. The deluge system comprises a base unit (30), a stanchion (20), and a nozzle apparatus (22); the method comprising attaching the deluge system to a burner boom with a walkway, such that there remains a width of at least 30 cm clear passage on the boom's walkway after the deluge system has been attached. This provides an escape and/or rescue route for personnel should a dangerous situation occur, such as uncontrolled fire or personnel falling overboard. In preferred embodiments, the deluge system is attached to the boom outboard of handrail supports (which includes on a single handrail). The deluge system may have its own mechanism e.g. a winch, for moving the stanchion from a stowed position to an operative position which allows a safe and more optimum positioning of the stanchion away from the well flaring operation, as herein described. In a preferred embodiment, the stanchion is provided as part of a moveable member which is rotationally attached to a connection mechanism of the base unit at a connection point spaced away from an end of the moveable member. This allows the moveable member to have a counter weight system and reduces the amount of force required to move the moveable member, avoiding mechanical constraints.

摘要: A dump gate system for a fluid hopper in a firefighting aircraft. A gate sealably engages a gate opening in the hopper at a closed position. The gate is hingedly connected about the gate opening, and a drive shaft is supported within the hopper. A crank arm is fixed to the drive shaft and is further coupled to the gate by a connecting link. The crank arm and the connecting link define an over-center geometry while the gate is at the closed position, such that weight of the fluid on the gate induces torque on the drive shaft in a gate-closing direction. An electric motor is selectively coupled to rotate the drive shaft in a gate-opening direction to thereby enable control of the fluid flow from the hopper according to an angular position of the drive shaft.
