摘要: A system, method, and device for configuring an optical aiming device for ballistic drop compensation (BDC). The optical aiming device can include a housing with a reticle pane defining a reticle display field viewable by a user and indicating a zero point, the housing further including a plurality of axially spaced lenses and defining an optical path therethrough. In various embodiments the system includes a display device configured to project an image generated from a display, a processor, and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium. The computer readable data storage medium can include instructions executable by the processor to receive a first set of ballistics input data indicating a first type of ammunition, determine a BDC pattern including at least two holdover marks corresponding to at least two ranges for the first type of ammunition, and project the BDC pattern onto the reticle display field.

摘要: Provided is a weapon aiming system including a riflescope and a laser rangefinder (LRF). The riflescope has at least one turret for adjusting the position of an internal reticle aimpoint. At least one encoder senses a relative position change of the turret and/or reticle. The LRF includes at least one pair of Risley prisms operable to adjustably position a LRF aimpoint to coincide with the aimpoint of the riflescope reticle. A motor is associated with each Risley prism. The system is configured such that adjusting the aimpoint of the riflescope reticle causes the encoder to send a position change signal to a controller programmed to, in response, direct the motor to reposition the prisms so that the LRF aimpoint continues to coincide with the reticle aimpoint.

摘要: This invention discloses a riflescope wherein the point of aim is adjusted by a pair of partially-rotating wedge prisms. The prisms are positioned in front of the objective lens of the riflescope. The deviation axes of the prisms are oriented perpendicular to each other such that one deviates the light beam in the horizontal direction and the other in the vertical direction. It is shown, using the geometric properties of a tangent to a circle, that rotating each prism by a small amount can produce an approximately linear shift in the point of aim of the riflescope.
The riflescope introduced in this invention has no laterally-moving parts, no turrets and no off-axis optical components. Therefore, it provides a very robust and reliable point of aim. Additionally, the riflescope has a streamlined body which is aesthetically pleasing and easier to mount on the long receiver of magnum hunting rifles.

摘要: A device that causes a weapon to fire upon a target when the weapon is enabled by an operator, and when the weapon point of impact passes through a target or in a proximity thereto and when the target satisfies certain criteria as determined by one or more sensors/designations.
This invention represents a significant paradigm shift. Some prior art (large scale) weapons automatically acquire/track/prioritize/target/fire upon targets without operator intervention (i.e. Phalanx). Most prior art weapons, especially but not limited to small arms, are manually aimed, and fire immediately upon an input (trigger pull, or equivalent) from the operator. The current invention is a novel approach which triggers the release of a round, multi-round burst, rocket, missile, or other projectile(s) when enabled by the operator, and when the target passes through the point of impact (or desired/computed proximity thereto), relieving the operator of the split second judgment in timing the release and/or cessation of such fire. The results intended include a reduction in off-target rounds fired, increased hit rate, conservation of ammunition, more effective targeting for non-motion-stabilized weapons (in particular small/medium arms), and the introduction of a backup mode for nominally motion-stabilized weapons which may allow effective operations when primary stabilization systems fail or are overwhelmed by dynamics.
This invention is applicable (in embodiments of varying complexity) to weapons ranging from handheld pistols to the main (artillery) gun of a tank, a ship, or the cannon aboard an aircraft.
