    摘要: An air sampling system and method are provided to collect air samples from a plurality of air sample inlets. Before or after transmitting an air sample originating from one of the sample inlets, a signal gas is transmitted via the sample line in accordance with one of a plurality of predefined burp patterns, each of which uniquely corresponds to a different one of the sample inlets. The sample line is monitored for the signal gas in accordance with the predefined burp patterns. Based on detection of the signal gas in the sample line in accordance with one of the predefined burp patterns, a related action is taken. The related action can be identifying the sample inlet from which the air sample originated, or further transmitting the air sample via the sample line.

    摘要: A system and method for sampling air in a controlled environment that includes two or more air sampling devices at different locations within the controlled environment. A controller is provided at a location outside of the controlled environment and in separate air flow communication with each of the two or more air sampling devices via separate first vacuum tubes, the controller having a manifold configured to separately control a rate of air flow from the two or more air sampling devices to the controller via each of the separate first vacuum tubes and to selectively direct the air flow from each of the separate first vacuum tubes to one or more second vacuum tubes. A vacuum source is provided at a location outside the controlled environment and in air flow communication with the controller via the one or more second vacuum tubes, the vacuum source providing suction and being controlled by the controller to generate the air flow through each of the first vacuum tubes. And, a flow switch for each of the two or more air sampling devices is provided at a location between a corresponding air sampling device and the vacuum source, each of the flow switches being configured to separately measure and control the rate of air flow through a corresponding first vacuum tube. An alarm is automatically activated at a location inside the controlled environment by one or more of the flow switches when the rate of air flow measured at one or more of the flow switches deviates from a desired value by a predetermined amount.

    摘要: The disclosed invention is a new concept for a network of specialized continuous ambient air sampling systems, which employ a novel non-destructive ionization and separation method, coupled to a near real-time genomic sequencer. The network of preferably pathogen samplers, would constitute a plurality of distributed nodes throughout the world, with bacterial & viral concentration, identification, and mutation data uploaded to the cloud for epidemic/pandemic predictive modeling. The proposed system offers the ability to migrate from outbreak surveillance, to outbreak forecast. In addition, the capability for continuous data of genomic sequencing offers an enhanced capability to help track antigenic drift and antigenic shift. While optimized for viral capture and analysis, any airborne pathogen or spore can be accepted using the technology. Applications include world health monitoring, pandemic prediction, and detection of real-time bioterror pathogen deployment.

    摘要: An air sampling system configured to detect an air quality metric for a plurality of volumetric regions is disclosed. The system comprises an air sample return unit, an air flow controller, and at least one sensor. The air sample return unit is configured to independently transfer air from the plurality of regions as a plurality of air samples. The air flow controller is configured to receive each of the plurality of air samples and selectively direct a selected sample to a sensor supply line and the remainder of the samples to a sample purge line. The at least one sensor is configured to measure an air quality metric of the selected sample and communicate the air quality metric to a controller. The remainder of the air samples are directed to the air sample return unit throughout operation.
