    摘要: Techniques are provided for a completely programmable fluidic manipulation without requiring any external control elements or electricity. A chip includes multiple microfluidic channels separated from an outside of the chip by an outer flexible substrate. An apparatus includes a plurality of actuators rotatably connected to a support structure with a recess for receiving the chip. Each actuator includes a plurality of teeth protruding outward, and is positioned so that at least in some angle of rotation a tooth of the actuator extends sufficiently into the recess to compress a microfluidic channel in a chip disposed in the recess. An optional punch card guide is included for guiding a card to contact the actuators. A system or kit includes a punch card on which is formed a plurality of punch features, each configured to engage a tooth of an actuator. Different microfluidic protocols are executed by simply changing the punch card.

    摘要: A large number of cards are vertically randomly stored on a horizontal platen. Each card has a serrated bottom code edge contacting the platen, a magnetic chip implanted in a vertical edge and a hook on the upper edge. Selected serrations are removed from the bottom edges of the cards to constitute a selection code. Selected sorting bars are raised into position between the serrations, and a magnet attracts the magnetic chips so that only the selected card having serrations removed corresponding to the raised sorting bars is pulled horizontally backward by the magnet by a distance of one serration. A push bar then engages with the hook of the selected card, and pushes the selected card horizontally forward and simultaneously lifts the selected card clear of the other cards to a retrieval position.

    摘要: An improved accessory device for increasing the effective card storage capacity of retrieval systems in which edge-notched coded cards are randomly stored in face-to-face upstanding relation on a platen in a card selector apparatus. The accessory device includes a two-piece card tray having a substantially planar bottom panel against which the code-notched edges of the cards rest when stored face-to-face in a vertical disposition, and a retaining structure at least partially surrounding the upstanding cards. The retaining structure is positionable between engaged and disengaged positions relative to the bottom panel, thereby facilitating transfer of the cards between the tray and the selector. The retaining structure, when engaged with the bottom panel, cooperates therewith to store the cards in the tray. Alternatively, and when the retaining structure is in the course of being positioned between its engaged and disengaged positions relative to the panel, the retaining structure functions to transfer the cards between a position of support on the bottom panel and a position of support in the card selector. Also included are structural features for improving the positioning of cards and locking the retaining structure both relative to the selector, when the cards are in the selector and positioned by the retaining structure.

    摘要: A fixed and a movable divider detect and self-adjust to the thickness of a card deck, and grip the cards tightly between them. Whatever the variable distance may be between the dividers when gripping the cards, the movable divider is backed off to a card-releasing position over a further distance which is a constant, such that the deck is always loosened to the same degree without regard to its thickness. A shoe contactor rolls a locking shoe of the movable divider along a trackway to shift the movable divider to its card-releasing position, and by pressure against the shoe locks the movable divider in that position.
