摘要: In an apparatus for optically reading a graphic symbol composed of a plurality of optically identifiable unit sections of information, a first image pickup unit has a first photodetector and picks up a first optical image of the graphic symbol based on light detected by the first photodetector. A second image pickup unit has a second photodetector and configured to pick up a second optical image of the graphic symbol based on light detected by the second photodetector. A correcting unit corrects a light intensity level of at least one section of one of the first and second optical images based on a light intensity level of at least one section of the other of the first and second optical images. The at least one section corresponds to at least one of the unit sections of information of the graphic symbol.

摘要: A security document, such as a banknote or a check, is provided with a perforation pattern (5) having holes (5a, 5b) with elongate cross section. When viewing the perforation pattern (5) from a direction that is non-perpendicular to the surface of the document, different holes will have different optical transmission, which can be verified by eye or electronically. Perforation patterns (5) of this type are hard to forge and easy to verify.

摘要: A method for reading a graphic pattern by illuminating the graphic pattern with at least two groups of light sources, each of the at least two groups of light sources having at least one light source operating according to an illumination cycle that comprises an illumination cycle-portion and a non-illumination cycle-portion. The light sources of one of the at least two groups of light sources are activated according to equal illumination cycles. The illumination cycles of the light sources belong to different ones of the at least two groups of light sources having a reciprocally different timing. Light is gathered from the light sources having been diffused by the graphic pattern on a sensor having a plurality of sensitive points. Light impinging on the plurality of sensitive points is converted, through a conversion cycle of the sensor, point by point into electric signals representative of single points of the graphic pattern, at a same time for all of the plurality of sensitive points.

摘要: In a card sorting machine, cards having coded tooth trains at the lower edges and magnetic pieces at the front edges are placed on a group of select bars. By selectively raising the select bars, the magnetic piece of the selected cards are attracted to a selecting magnet for having the cards moved at first for one pitch in the horizontal direction and then in an oblique upward direction. A card holding magnet is further provided which holds the selected cards at the oblique upward position upon transfer from the selecting magnet.

摘要: A card reader capable of accurately reading a data card inserted in any of four possible orientations includes a card with two data tracks, a card reader producing two corresponding data pulse trains, and two differentiation networks for producing two differentiated data pulse trains. The differentiated data pulse trains are combined to form a clock pulse train and, further, are latched to produce two latched data trains. A first selector circuit assigns a first binary code value to the latched data train exhibiting the first appearing pulse and a second selector circuit sets a storage direction flag dependent upon the position of a subsequent data pulse. The latched data train assigned a first binary code value, the clock pulse train, and the storage direction flag are received by a serial to parallel converter which stores least significant digit first or most significant digit first dependent upon the flag.

摘要: A plurality of bar hooks are disposed in an array proximate the upper area of a file enclosure, and are each formed with a pair of oppositely extending arms. The arms, disposed for co-action with the ears forming the binary code on a plurality of edge coded files, are selectively actuateable to enable retrieval of selected ones of said files; even though the files have been returned to the enclosure in random order irrespective of any consecutive order of the numbering of said files. The enclosure carries one or more coding bars corresponding to a special edge code notched into the files to restrict return of the file to its proper enclosure. A latch bar extends along each side of the enclosure for co-operation with side notches provided in the files to support same out of contact with the arms of the bar hooks to facilitate actuation of the bar hooks for card retrieval. In some of the embodiments the bar hooks are supported by mounting plates which extend along the length of the bar hook. In other embodiments the bar hooks as well as the latch bars are moved into operative position by a cam plate that engages the bar hook and/or latch bar substantially along its length. The enclosure is further provided with a conveyor that carries the selected file to an outlet opening formed in the enclosure.

摘要: A card retrieval system in which each card is provided at its one peripheral edge with a magnetic strip which includes a unique notch structure for the purpose of retrieving individual cards. A plurality of selector bars are positioned in a manner to meet at right angles to a stack of the cards, while a magnet is positioned against the magnetic strips of the stacked cards. By the attracting force of the magnet, a specific card is slightly drawn out from the card stack in cooperation with the selector bars and the notch structure. Subsequent to this, locking members are operative to preclude the drawing out of the other cards and the plurality of the selector bars are withdrawn over the retrieved card transportation course. In this manner, the retrieval of a specific card is accomplished by the magnet.

摘要: A large number of cards are vertically randomly stored on a horizontal platen. Each card has a serrated bottom code edge contacting the platen, a magnetic chip implanted in a vertical edge and a hook on the upper edge. Selected serrations are removed from the bottom edges of the cards to constitute a selection code. Selected sorting bars are raised into position between the serrations, and a magnet attracts the magnetic chips so that only the selected card having serrations removed corresponding to the raised sorting bars is pulled horizontally backward by the magnet by a distance of one serration. A push bar then engages with the hook of the selected card, and pushes the selected card horizontally forward and simultaneously lifts the selected card clear of the other cards to a retrieval position.
