Abstract:
A safety device for use in a fall arrest or fall safety system includes an energy absorber to absorb energy in the event of a fall or other impulse event. The energy absorber is a resilient element (such as a tolerance ring) providing an interference fit between a first component of the device and a second component of the device. In the event of a fall arrestor other impulse event, the first and second components effect movement relative to one another, the interference fit being overcome, and the resilient element/tolerance ring acting to resist the relative movement thereby absorbing energy.

The invention relates to a device (1) for stubble treatment once a crop has been harvested, which device (1) comprises a frame (2), wherein at least one knife rolling segment (3) is adapted to be coupled to said frame (2) through a pair of bearings (4) and to operate substantially horizontally, said device (1) further comprises a vibration- absorbing arrangement (14) for each bearing (4), which vibration-absorbing arrangement (14) is adapted to be mounted between a bearing (4) and a free-end of said frame (2), wherein said vibration-absorbing arrangement (14) is at least partially made of a resilient material, wherein said vibration-absorbing arrangement (14) is adapted to isolate the frame (2) from vibrations generated at the rolling segment (3) and propagated to each bearing (4). Also, the invention relates to a vibration-absorbing arrangement (14) adapted to be mounted to a device (1) for stubble treatment as described above.

Fluidless mounts (10) capable of damping motion in several directions are disclosed. The mounts (10) utilize hysterisis losses in an elastomeric material to absorb energy. The losses are induced by rigid rib (30, 31) and grooved elements (32) which are displaced along the surface of an elastomeric layer (20, 21) in pressure engagement therewith. Amplitude-sensitive damping embodiments are disclosed.
