摘要: The present invention provides a method for determining if air is trapped within a centrifugal separator (100). The separator comprises a stationary frame (30), a rotatable assembly (101) and a drive unit (34) for rotating the rotatable assembly (101) relative the frame (30) around an axis of rotation (X); and further a feed inlet (20) for supply of a liquid mixture to be separated, a first liquid outlet (21) for discharge of a separated liquid phase and a second liquid outlet (22) for discharge of a heavy phase having a density that is higher than said liquid phase; wherein the rotatable assembly (101) comprises a rotor casing (2) enclosing a separation space (17) in which a stack (19) of separation discs is arranged to rotate around a vertical axis (X) of rotation. The method comprises the steps of a) closing one of the first (21) and second (22) liquid outlets and restricting the flow from the other outlet; b) supplying feed to the feed inlet (20) and measuring the flow to the feed inlet (20) and the flow from the restricted outlet (21,22); c) comparing the flow as a function of time between feed inlet (20) and the restricted outlet (21,22); and d) determining that air is trapped within the centrifugal separator (100) if the measured flow as a function of time flow deviates between feed inlet (20) and the restricted outlet (21,22).

摘要: The present invention provides a centrifugal separator for separation of at least two components of a fluid mixture which are of different densities. The centrifugal separator (1) comprises a stationary frame (2), a drive member configured to rotate a rotating part (4) in relation to the stationary frame. The rotating part comprises a spindle (5) and a centrifuge rotor (6) enclosing a separation space, the centrifuge rotor being mounted to the spindle to rotate together with the spindle around an axis (X) of rotation. The rotating part is supported by the stationary frame by at least one bearing device (7a, 7b). The stationary frame (2) surrounds said centrifuge rotor (6), thereby forming a rotor space (8) between the stationary frame and the centrifuge rotor, and the stationary frame comprises at least one first air inlet (9) arranged to provide fluid communication into said rotor space and at least one first air outlet (10) arranged to provide fluid communication out from said rotor space. The at least one first air inlet and at least one first air outlet are arranged in the stationary frame to provide a flow of air from at least one first air inlet to and out through at least one first air outlet and at least one first air inlet is arranged to be connected to a source of pressurized air and at least one first air outlet is arranged to allow outflow of air from said rotor space.

The method (100) comprises the steps of a) supplying (101) a liquid feed mixture to be separated to the inlet (11) of the centrifuge bowl (10), b) separating (102) the liquid feed mixture into at least one separated liquid phase and a separated sludge phase, and c) supplying hydraulic fluid to the intermittent discharge system (30) to initiate discharge (104) of a separated sludge phase from the centrifuge bowl (10), wherein the amount of supplied hydraulic fluid is determined by the magnitude of a generated trigger signal Tgen and further wherein the magnitude of the generated trigger signal Tgen is dependent on the air pressure around the centrifuge bowl (10).

A seal assembly (138) is mounted within the dryer housing (110) having water outlet opening and a motor shaft opening that is disposed to intersect the rotational axis, where the seal assembly permits the passage of pellets between the dryer housing and the seal assembly. A water baffle (134) is coupled to the seal assembly (138) to form a water chamber that encloses the rotating basket (112) except for the open portion (117). A water outlet return (136) is coupled to the water outlet opening of the seal assembly (138). A pellet deflector (128) is disposed within the dryer housing (110) and in communication with the open portion (117) of the rotating basket (112) to form a pellet chamber within the dryer housing (110) that is external to the water chamber and in communication with the pellet discharge port (132).
