Abstract:
According to certain embodiments, a target network node for communicating with a user equipment (UE) that was previously in communication with a source network node, comprises an interface operably coupled to processing circuitry. The interface is configured to receive a connection resume request from the user equipment, wherein the connection resume request comprises a resume identification associated with the source network node. The processing circuitry is configured to determine that the UE was previously in communication with the source network node. The interface is further configured to transmit the connection resume request to the source network node, receive a radio resource control (RRC) response from the source network node, and forward the RRC response to the UE.
Abstract:
Techniques, such as might be implemented in a wireless device operating in a wireless network, for reporting measurements of interference affecting a wireless service provided by the wireless network. An example method includes receiving (210), from the wireless network, configuration information instructing the wireless device to perform measurements on one or more radio resources or signals, where the one or more radio resources or signals are solely associated with one or more wireless services that the wireless device is at least currently unable to use. The method further includes performing (220) one or more measurements on the radio resources or signals, in accordance with the received configuration information, and selectively reporting (230) results of the measurements, based on the configuration information.
Abstract:
There is provided a method of a wireless terminal arranged to operate in a communication network including communication capabilities according to a first radio access technology, RAT, and a second RAT with the wireless terminal. The method comprises transmitting data to a network node of the communication network or connected to the communication network via a connection using the first RAT. The data enables the network node to determine information about a position of the wireless terminal. The method further comprises receiving a set of parameters from the network node via the connection using the first RAT. The set of parameters is related to any of cell search and system information search for the second RAT. The method further comprises performing cell search or system information search for the second RAT based on the set of parameters. A network node for providing the set of parameters is also disclosed, as well as such wireless device, network node, and computer programs for implementing the methods in such wireless device and network node.
Abstract:
According to certain embodiments, a method by a first network node is provided for enabling paging of a user equipment (UE) in a lightly connected state. The method includes the first network node receiving a UE identity index value for the UE while the UE is in a connected state or during an initial context setup for the UE. The UE identity index value is stored. The method further includes transitioning the UE from the connected state to a lightly connected state and using the UE identity index value that was stored while the UE was in the connected state paging the UE. The UE identity index value may be received from the MME or from a neighboring network node or from the UE.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods relating to enabling a wireless device to perform SRVCC when connected to a 3GPP specified gNB and a 5G core network that does not support SRVCC are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device comprises providing an indication to the 5G core network that the UE support SRVCC in EPC mode and receiving instruction to connect to an eNB in EUTRAN and EPC that supports SRVCC to a circuit switched network. In this manner, the gNB and the 5G Core network is not required to support SRVCC. Related embodiments in gNB and a control plane entity in the G core network are also provided.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments, a method for use in a network node of providing a radio resource control (RRC) state of a user equipment (UE) to a core network node comprises: receiving, from the core network node, a request to receive a notification of a transition of the UE between a first and second RRC state; determining the UE transitioned between the first and second RRC state; and sending the notification of the transition to the core network node. A method for use in a core network node of receiving RRC state information of a UE comprises: sending, to the network node, a subscription request to receive a notification of a transition of the UE between a first and second RRC state; and upon the network node determining the UE transitioned between the first and second RRC state, receiving the notification from the network node.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the coordination of simultaneous multi-RAT camping in in a wireless communication network that provides radio access for a terminal device via at least a first and second wireless radio access operating with different radio access technologies. The improved multi-RAT camping is achieved by transmitting, by a network node, an indication regarding a set of camping areas, CAs, including a first set of camping areas being associated with the first RAT and a second set of camping areas being associated with the second RAT; performing, by the terminal device, camping in a coverage area defined based on the set of CAs; and updating, by the terminal device, the communication network with a geographic location of the terminal device a) when the terminal device enters a new coverage area being different from the coverage area defined by both the first and second set of CAs as a first mechanism, or b) when the terminal device enters a new coverage area being different from the coverage area defined by one of the first and second set of CAs as a second mechanism.
