Abstract:
In poultry slaughterhouses, birds arrive in batches. Birds are delivered in holders (2), are unloaded and are connected to carriers (14). The birds are then introduced into the slaughterhouse and slaughtered, after which further processing take place. The supply is variable over the course of time. However, the slaughtering is a continuous process. The present invention evens out the supply variability, so that a uniform stream of birds which is well matched to the continuous process in the slaughterhouse is obtained. A conveyor device (8, 9) having a controllable speed is positioned between the point at which the birds are unloaded from the holders and the point at which the birds are connected to a carrier. The speed of this conveyor device is controlled in such a manner that the number of birds which leaves the conveyor device is substantially uniform. It is also possible to control the speed of unloading. It is also possible for measurements to be performed at various points in the system and for these measurements to be fed back to the controllable conveyor device. In this way it is then possible to automatically generate a uniform stream of birds.
Abstract:
A turkey transport (100) includes a two-hand handle (102) to allow more easy lifting of the turkey. In addition, the center of lift of the two-handle is substantially centered over the center of lift of a lifting rod such that the turkey is lifted in a substantially horizontal orientation. The lifting rod has a square cross-section with narrow upper edges exerting relatively high force against the inside of the turkey to provide extra friction. The lifting rod has a wedge-shaped end (118) which places pressure against the turkey from inside and from outside. The lifting rod also includes an up-turned spike end (116) which is driven into the breasbone of the turkey. To lift a roast turkey, the spike of the lifting rod is inserted into the chest cavity of the turkey. The forward end of the two-hand handle is lifted to drive the spike end into the breastbone of the turkey through the abdominal opening of the chest cavity. Lifting the two-hand handle then securely and easily lifts the turkey for transportation.
Abstract:
Method for treating a large number of meat products, in particular slaughtered poultry or parts thereof, in which an additive is added to the meat products. The meat products are supplied to additive-adding means using a conveyor means, the conveyor means being designed to feed the meat products sequentially in groups or separately. The additive-adding means subject each meat product or each group of meat products to an additive-adding treatment which is adapted to the corresponding meat product or to the corresponding group of meat products.
Abstract:
There is described a method and an apparatus for suspending animals to be slaughtered, particularly chickens, in transport shackles (16) of an overhead conveyor (18), where the ckickens (8), for example from water chiller, preferably via belt conveyor (6), are delivered at the centre of a rotating distributing table surface (4), at which there are means (10) arranged for successively pushing the chickens (8) outward toward a rim area of said distributing table surface (4) which is formed with positions (12) along said rim area each arranged to accommodate one chicken (8) placed and partly fixed in such a way that at least one leg of each chicken (8) projects from the edge of the rim area so that at least one leg may be gripped by a transport shackle (16) of said overhead conveyor (18) which in a synchronised way pass close to one or more of said positions (12) along the rim area of the rotating distributing table surface (4).
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for successive transfer of slaughtered poultry, particularly broilers (4), from one hanging conveyor (2) to another hanging conveyor (22), and where the transfer is carried out in a coordinated manner by means of a usual transfer wheel (18), in which leg parts of the broilers (4) are temporarily fixed in outwardly open recesses (12) along the periphery of the transfer wheel (18) is described, where the broilers (4) - while they are suspended with end parts (14) of thighs fixed in said recesses (12) of the transfer wheel (18) - are gripped preferably from the outside, that is preferably from the back, and are carried inwards and lifted upwards under the transfer wheel (18) in such a manner that the tights are displaced upwards and outwards in the recesses (12) of the transfer wheel (18) within an arched guide rail (56), so that the said end parts (14) of the thighs are guided in between shackles (24) of the other hanging conveyor (22), and that the grip around the broilers (4) is relaxed at the same time as the guide rail (56) ends, so that the body of the broilers again are allowed to be led downwards, that is so that their upper thigh are led downwards and said end parts (14) of the thighs are fixed in the shackles (24) of the other hanging conveyor (22).
Abstract:
Device for conveying slaughtered animals or a part thereof. The device comprises a number of carriers (6), each of which is connected by way of adjustable connecting means (18) to a trolley of a conveyor and runs through a route past at least one inspection or processing station. The carrier comprises accommodating means (10) with accommodating elements (13) for accommodating the legs of the slaughtered animal. Fixing means (11) interacting with the accommodating elements enclose the legs like a ring.
