    Abstract: Luminescent materials in display devices are desired to have high efficiency, and to be highly resistant to burnout, i.e., to have a long useful life even at high intensities of stimulating radiation. Disclosed is a visual display device which comprises a bismuth-activated material (e.g. 15) which luminesces blue and which is particularly suited for use in high-intensity display devices such as, e.g., cathode ray display tubes.
