Abstract:
A self-adjusting liner assembly for a welding torch includes an elongated tubular main body having forward and rearward ends. An elongated tubular retainer including a shoulder is mountable in the main body. An elongated tubular piston including a shoulder cooperates with the retainer in a telescoping relationship in the main body. A resilient member is disposed in the main body and envelops a portion of the retainer and the piston. The resilient member urges the shoulders away from each other and the tubular piston toward the forward end of the main body.

The second contact device (33) has an elongated form, is suspended spring-loaded to the housing (7) and extends from a first end (17), which is arranged between the first end (8) of the housing (7) and the second end (9) of the housing (7), to a second end (18).
Abstract:
Abstract:
Embodiments of an insulated sleeve (46) and a perforated screen (48) may be used in a nozzle (50) assembly for a welding torch. In one embodiment, a welding system includes an electrically insulated sleeve (46) and a perforated screen (48) disposed adjacent to the electrically insulated sleeve (46). The perforated screen (48) is configured to be captured removably between a nozzle (50) and a contact tip (44) of a torch head, and the perforated screen (48) is configured to be installed and removed independent of the nozzle (50).
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a welding unit intended for protective gas welding of the type that comprises a manually grippable pistol (1) in the form of a long narrow, form-stiff cover, as well as a cable (2) connected to the pistol through which a welding wire and a protective gas may be fed up to nozzles (3) included in the pistol. In the cable, there are also conductors in order to provide the pistol with current. According to the invention, the pistol cover (1) is formed with substantially straight front and rear sections (5, 6), which transform into each other via an arched transition section (7) and extend at an obtuse angle (α) to each other. Said obtuse angle may amount to approximately 130°. The cable (2) is drawn through the rear section (6) as well as the transition section (7) up to a body pipe (not visible) arranged in the front section, to which said nozzles (3) are connected.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a method of arc welding and apparatus associated with the method. Preferred embodiments deliver welding wire from an associated autofeed source along a substantially straight path and into the weld zone. The resistance of the wire to further travel within the weld zone results in the torch assembly being propelled along the workpiece at a constant speed proportional to the rate of wire feed. This allows high quality welds substantially free of waves or ridges to be consistently made and at high speeds - 1000 mm per minute - being achieved in trials. The invention also addresses some problems associated with the welding of difficult materials, or when heavier gauge welding wires are used.
