Abstract:
The invention relates to a belay and/or rappelling accessory on a simple or double rope (C). the accessory includes a unitary part that comprises a first opening (2) having a shape permitting the passage of a carabiner, a second opening (3) formed in the central portion of said part above said first opening, said second opening permitting the passage of at least two yarns of a rope (C), and a slot (4) defining a cut-out communicating at its widest upper end with said second opening (3) for passing and blocking in said notch the rope yarn from said second opening. The accessory is characterised in that it further comprises, between the first opening and the lower and most narrow end of said slot (4), a bossing (5) extending transversally on the surface of said single-block part that locally increases the thickness of said part by a value at least equal to the diameter of said rope yarn. The bossing defines a member for returning the rope to the surface of said unitary part, in order to facilitate the manual release of a rope yarn caught in said slot (4).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A device for facilitating a controlled descent of a body, the device comprising a rotatable reel around which at least a portion of a cable is wound, a first end of the cable secured to the reel and a second end of the cable free; a friction drum mounted coaxially around the reel, the cable, upon leaving the reel wound at least partially around the drum; a carrier on which the reel and the drum are mounted; wherein the reel is provided with braking means for braking rotational motion of the reel and for balancing descending speed of the body.
Abstract:
An evacuation system for a building including at least one selectably lowerable, collapsible, generally vertical transporter arranged for selectable communication with at least one floor of a building and a controller for selectably lowering at least one platform of the transporter from the at least one floor to a level at which egress of persons may safely occur.
Abstract:
A personal descent apparatus for evacuating occupants from a high elevation of tall building under emergency. The personal descent apparatus comprises a pair of supporting plates connected to each other front and rear with a predetermined gap, braking rods rotatably fixed to the pair of supporting plates in the predetermined gap between the pair of supporting plates, the braking rods form a passage which is formed by two guide grooves each of which is tapered and formed at arc ends facing to each other, so that a rope is inserted to the passage, and weight receiving means connected to both ends of the braking rods for receiving a load, wherein the braking rods are rotated by the load.
Abstract:
A device for lowering/carrying from an elevated place, comprising a lowering device, a braking device and a driving/carrying device. The lowering device comprises horizontally disposed sprockets, a suspension chain passed around the sprockets, and a carrier suspending means attached to the suspension chain; the braking device comprises a fluid pump for converting the rotational motion of a crank shaft into the reciprocating motion of a piston to suck fluid from a suction path for jetting from a jetting path, a fluid circulating path for circulating the fluid jetted from the jetting path of the fluid pump to the suction path of the pump, a jet amount regulating valve for regulating an amount of liquid passing the jetting path of the pump to produce the fluid compressive resistance of the piston, and a rotation governor for detecting variations in the rotating speed of the sprocket to control the jet amount regulating valve; and the driving/carrying device comprises a transmission means for transmitting the rotation of the sprocket in the lowering device to the crank shaft of the braking device, and is so constituted as to allow the rotation governor to control the jet amount regulating valve in accordance with the rotating speed of the sprocket rotated by the weight of the carrier when the carrier suspends from the suspension chain to change the fluid pressure resistance of the piston and thereby apply a braking force to the rotation of the sprocket in the lowering device.
