Abstract:
A chest strap arrangement for an attachable arrangement removably attachable to a user and having a first torso strap and a second torso strap. The chest strap arrangement includes: a strap member with a first portion and a second portion; a first buckle having at least one substantially horizontal slot through which the first torso strap extends; and a second buckle having at least one substantially horizontal slot through which the second torso strap extends. In one embodiment, the cross sectional thickness of at least a portion of an outer end area of a buckle is greater than the cross sectional thickness of at least a portion of an inner end area of the buckle.
Abstract:
A device for providing a controlled maximum rate of descent down a rope and fall arrest. The device includes a movable cam that in response to tension on a rope pivots into a closed position, jamming the rope within the device and arresting a fall. Force applied to a torque arm coupled to the cam allows the cam to be pivoted to its open position, which allows rope travel. As cam is opened, the rope travels a more sharply angular path through the device, which creates a frictional force on the rope sufficient to limit the maximum rate of descent.
Abstract:
A safety assembly that provides a lifeline for utility poles and other tall structures is provided. The safety assembly includes a tubular member and a positioning member. The tubular member has first and second openings to a passage. The passage is configured to receive a rope. The positioning member has a first end and a second end. The first end of the positioning member is configured to be received in at least one of the first and second openings of the tubular member. The second end of the positioning member is configured to be coupled to a reaching member. With the use of the positioning member and the reaching member, the tubular member is positioned to engage the tall structure and the rope passing through the internal passage is used as a lifeline.
Abstract:
A fibrous assembly comprises two components, the first component providing a visual indication of when a pre-determined tensile load is applied to the assembly or when the fibres of the assembly have been over-extended. The first and second components are movable relative to each other, the visual indication being provided by the first component being substantially concealed by the second component and becoming at least partially exposed when the pre-determined tensile load is applied to the assembly or when the fibres have been over-extended. The first component comprises auxetic yarn.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a suspension device (1) for attachment to a support (6) and comprises a body (2) having two spaced plate-like side members (3) connected together, means at one end of the body enabling a suspension means (8) to be attached, at least one hook (12) at the opposite end of the body integral with at least one of the side members curving towards the other side member, the spacing of the free end of the at least one hook from the opposite respective side member being such as to embrace the support to which the device is to be applied, at least one lever (15) pivoted on a respective at least one pivot (16) between the side members, and each lever having an (upper) arm (18) to one side of the pivot with a cam face (19) directed towards the at least one hook, and a (lower) arm (20) projecting to the opposite side of the pivot away from the pivot centre and a means (21) to urge the cam face (19) on the lever arm (18) towards the hook.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus attachable to an animal's leg for measuring the animal's posture is disclosed. This apparatus is particularly for use as an animal's lying-meter and is comprised of housing attachable to the animal's leg, a slope's gauge for indicating the animal's posture and a controller that receives information from the slope's gauge and processes the information into a variety of animal's posture information.
Abstract:
A flexible chair that includes a seat member with seat bottom and back rest portions, first and second pairs of legs, and a plurality of cross members. The pair of first legs are pivotly connected to rearward positions of the seat bottom portion and extend downwardly and forwardly from the seat bottom portion. The pair of second legs are pivotly connected to forward positions of the seat bottom portion and extend downwardly and rearwardly from the seat bottom portion, such that the first legs cross the second legs. The plurality of cross members connect the first and second legs together such that the seat member is rearwardly reclinable against a resilient force provided by at least one of the first pair of legs, the second pair of legs and the plurality of cross members.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a tether device that includes a first wristband to which a retracting mechanism is attached. A first end of a cord may be attached to the retracting mechanism. A second end of the cord may be attached to a second band. The retracting mechanism permits retraction and extension of the cord between the first and second wristbands responsive to changes in distance between first and second persons wearing the respective first and second wristbands. The present tether device provides an effective, lightweight tether system that may be used by an adult for inconspicuous, hands-free restraint of a child, particularly in public areas.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to personal protective equipment which serves as a safety device for maximally ensuring the safety of a worker in various construction and industrial fields, and more particularly, to an elastic safety rope which can prevent a worker working in a high place from falling, and/or protect the life of the worker in the event of a fall. The elastic safety rope comprises a core element, made of fiber yarn to be contractible, and an elastic tube placed around the circumferential outer surface of the core element in such a way as to compress the core element. The core element is made by weaving fiber yarn. The elastic tube is made by knitting elastic yarn.
