Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for reliable redundant power distribution. Some embodiments include micro Automatic Transfer Switches (micro-ATSs), including various components and techniques for facilitating reliable auto-switching functionality in a small footprint (e.g., less than ten cubic inches, with at least one dimension being less than a standard NEMA rack height). Other embodiments include systems and techniques for integrating a number of micro-ATSs into a parallel auto-switching module for redundant power delivery to a number of devices. Implementations of the parallel auto-switching module are configured to be mounted in, on top of, or on the side of standard equipment racks. Still other embodiments provide power distribution topologies that exploit functionality of the micro-ATSs and/or the parallel micro-ATS modules.
Abstract:
Embodiments relate to authoring, consuming, and exploiting dynamically adaptive e-learning courses created using novel, embedded datagraph structures, including course macrostructures with embedded lesson microstructures and practice microstructures. For example, courses can be defined by nodes and edges of directed graph macrostructures, in which each node includes one or more directed graph microstructures for defining lesson and practice step objects of the courses. The content and attributes of the nodes and edges can adaptively manifest higher level course flow relationships and lower level lesson and practice flow relationships. Embodiments can exploit such embedded datagraph structures to facilitate dynamic course creation and increased course adaptability; improved measurement of student knowledge acquisition and retention, and of student and teacher performance; enhanced monitoring and responsiveness to student feedback; and access to, exploitation of, measurement of, and/or valuation of respective contributions; etc.
Abstract:
A visual display assembly adapted for use as an anti-counterfeiting device on paper currency, product labels, and other objects. The assembly includes a film of transparent material including a first surface including an array of lenses and a second surface opposite the first surface. The assembly also includes a printed image proximate to the second surface. The printed image includes pixels of frames of one or more images interlaced relative to two orthogonal axes. The lenses of the array are nested in a plurality of parallel rows, and adjacent ones of the lenses in columns of the array are aligned to be in a single one of the rows with no offset of lenses in adjacent columns/rows. The lenses may be round-based lenses or are square-based lenses, and the lenses may be provided at 200 lenses per inch (LPI) or a higher LPI in both directions.
Abstract:
Various approaches for assessing a part for a defect are disclosed and that are based upon SAW modes. In one embodiment, a part-under-test (120) is excited. One or more SAW modes (206) are identified in the frequency response (240/260) of the part-under-test (120). A SAW mode area (248/266) in the frequency response of the part- under-test (120) is compared with a baseline SAW mode area (238/258) of a baseline frequency response (230/250) (and which may be associated with an acceptable part). This comparison may be used to determine if the part- under-test (120) may be characterized defective in at least some respect.
Abstract:
Computer systems and non-transitory computer readable media for determining an amount of an ingredient for a preparation for a requested therapy (e.g., an order or a prescription) includes an identifier, volume, and amounts of first and second compounds in each of a plurality of premix solutions. A predefined formulary comprising a formulary concentration of each of a plurality of additions is provided. A premix solution is selected. An amount of a first additions to be added to the premix solution may be selected. A number of bags of the premix solution, needed to satisfy a volume associated with the selected premix solution, are optionally reserved. An additive volume is determined at least by the specified first amounts of the first addition and a corresponding formulary concentration.
Abstract:
A vaginal speculum, conical in shape made out of clear plastic resin or metal that when closed can easily and gently be inserted into the introitus (vaginal opening). In certain embodiments, an obturator is used to introduce and/or expand the speculum. Various mechanisms are disclosed for dilating the speculum, after it has been inserted, so as to allow inspection of the patient's cervix. Such dilation can be effected relative to multiple axes, or even in substantially continuous, radial fashion about the periphery of the speculum, for improved visualization. In addition, this speculum has a handle that is oriented such that a vaginal exam can be performed on a standard exam table. The handle also includes a receptacle that receives a standard pen light. A light pipe directs light from the pen light to illuminate the cervix.
Abstract:
Systems and method for communication of information to one or more medical care providers. The systems and methods may utilize a client with which a user may interact. As such, the user may utilize the client to research, display, and/or select a medical care provider. The user may input information to the client which is transmitted to a selected medical care provider prior to the user arriving at the medical care provider's facility. This may include an indication of the user's intent to visit the medical care provider. As such, the medical care provider may utilize the data received to generate a chart and make preparations (e.g., reserve resources) in anticipation of the user's visit. The user may also use the client to access and/or share a personal health record.
Abstract:
A method and system for assessing a latent trait such as a psychiatric disorder in a test subject. The method includes receiving a test subject's responses to test items that are administered to the test subject to elicit the responses from the test subject. An initial first sub-region probability of the test subject lying within a first sub-region of a first latent trait is determined from the test subject's response to the initial first test item. A subsequent first sub-region probability of the test subject lying within the first sub-region of the first latent trait is then determined using the test subject's response to the subsequent first test item to ascertain a conditional response probability, and using the initial first sub-region probability as a prior first sub-region probability.
Abstract:
A mobile telecommunication/computing device that can print to a printer, the device having a sensor therein that determines the physical orientation of the device and the device displaying documents on a display in accordance with the orientation of the device. The device sends information to a printer that directs the printer to print the document in the orientation that the document is displayed on the device. The display orientation and print orientation may be portrait or landscape. Similar methods can be used to control other printer variables or, more generally, variables on other peripheral devices.
Abstract:
A mobile computing device with a mobile operating system and desktop operating system running concurrently and independently on a shared kernel without virtualization. The mobile operating system provides a user experience for the mobile computing device that suits the mobile environment. The desktop operating system provides a full desktop user experience when the mobile computing device is docked to a second user environment. Cross-environment rendering and user interaction support provide a seamless computing experience in a multi-operating system computing environment. Full user interaction support is provided for redirected and/or mirrored applications that are rendered using an extended graphics context. An extended input queue handles input events from virtual input devices for remotely displayed applications. Remotely displayed applications are mapped to separate motion spaces within the input queue. The mobile computing device may be a smartphone running the Android mobile operating system and a full desktop Linux distribution on a modified Android kernel.
