Abstract:
In one aspect, a thermal cycler system including a sample block and a thermoelectric device is disclosed. In various embodiments, the sample block has a first surface configured to receive a plurality of reaction vessels and an opposing second surface. In various embodiments the thermoelectric device is operably coupled to the second surface of the sample block. In various embodiments a thermal control unit is provided. In various embodiments the thermal control unit includes a computer processing unit. In various embodiments the thermal control unit includes an electrical current source. In various embodiments the thermal control unit also includes an electrical interface portion configured to connect the thermoelectric device with the electrical current source by way of an electrical cable. In various embodiments the thermal control unit is oriented in a different plane than the sample block and thermoelectric cooler.
Abstract:
A system and method of monitoring, controlling and/or detecting events during the removal of heat from subcutaneous lipid-rich tissue is described. In some examples, the system detects an increase in temperature at a treatment device in contact with the skin of a subject, determines that the increase in temperature is related to a treatment event, and performs an action based on the determination. In some examples, the system shuts off the treatment device, alerts an operator, or reduces the cooling in response to a determined treatment event.
Abstract:
The system allows a user to use a portable capture device to identify a product that is being examined by the user at a merchant's location. The identity of the merchant is also captured by the system before or after the examination of the product. If the user or a party affiliated with the user subsequently purchases the product from a source other than the merchant where the product was examined, the system compensates the merchant where the product was examined under a referral award program. Awards under the referral award program can take a variety of forms, including cash, advertising credit, or manufacturer rebates.
Abstract:
A retro-emissive marking system that returns a coded-spectrum optical signal to a source of an interrogation beam is described. The system is valuable for applications such as track-and-trace systems, vehicle markings, anti-counterfeit/security, inventory control, animal ear tags, product authentication, identification cards, security systems, and so on; and may be applied as remotely readable sensors of chemical or biological agents.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to the field of cellular tumorigenesis and cancer biology. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to tumorigenesis and cancer in estrogen-responsive cell types, including cell types such as testis, ovary and uterine tissues, mammary gland, brain, skeletal muscle, and lung tissues. The present disclosure further relates to compositions including polypeptides, oligopeptides, petidomimetics, antibodies, and nucleic acids, and pharmaceutical compositions, diagnostic kits, and therapeutic kits useful in the diagnosis or treatment of turnorigenesis in estrogen-responsive cell types.
Abstract:
A bolster dressing comprising an inner conformable layer and an outer semirigid layer for use in closing wounds and securing skin grafts or surgical flaps. This bolster dressing reduces edema, hematoma, seroma and shear of the wound bed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for receiving packages from drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are described. The systems can include a delivery package mounting unit, such as a unit configured to mount to the outside of a house or building, configured and adapted to facilitate the landing of a drone to the unit and receive to multiple packages from the drone and/or one or more other drones. In some embodiments, the mounting unit includes a landing tray configured to facilitate the landing of a drone to the unit, and a moveable package tray configured to receive packages and other cargo from the drone.
Abstract:
A space layout system performs various automated layout techniques to generate space layouts for office and other workspaces. The system can access building information modeling (BIM) information for a space, and automatically determine a layout of desks or other furniture for the space. The system can also provide to receive user input and automatically modify or reconfigure the layout of the space using the automated techniques.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described herein for providing a telecommunications network, such as a wireless network, LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, and so on, with blockchain nodes, agents, or sub-nodes. The blockchain nodes enable network components to access and maintain a blockchain for the network, such as a distributed ledger that tracks actions, activities, or other transaction associated with the telecommunications network.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described herein for configuring vehicles and infrastructure (e.g., buildings, smart homes, traffic devices, utilities and associated systems, emergency response systems, and so on) to include blockchain nodes, so a smart city or area of the various devices can be supported by a blockchain network, with some or all devices and systems provisioned with nodes acting as distributed nodes for the blockchain network.
