Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may multiplex peak suppression information message (PSIM) on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) with data for efficient implementation of PSIMs for peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction. A UE may clip peaks from a signal to be transmitted and capture information of the clipped peaks into a PSIM. The UE may then multiplex the PSIM on the PUSCH such that a receiving device (example, a base station) may receive the signal and reconstruct the signal (for example, PUSCH data) using the PSIM. According to some aspects, each PUSCH symbol may include a PSIM for a previous PUSCH symbol (for example, such that causality is preserved if multiplexing PSIM and data for each PUSCH symbol). Various aspects of the techniques described herein may further provide for PSIM positioning in frequency, PSIM modulation, PSIM channel coding, PSIM multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configurations, among other examples.

Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that utilize a general purpose (GP) reference signal for non-coherent millimeter-wave communication are discussed. The GP reference signal may have a special structure allowing it to be flexibly used by a mobile device for multiple purposes. A base station may determine a repetition factor for a repetitive intra-symbol GP reference signal mapping based on an event that triggered transmission of the GP reference signal. The base station may also map the GP reference signal to resource elements of a symbol based, at least in part, on the determined repetition factor of the repetitive intra-symbol GP reference signal mapping. The base station may also transmit the mapped GP reference signal. A mobile device may receive the GP reference signal and modify at least one parameter of a plurality of parameters based, at least in part, on processing of the GP reference signal.

Abstract: In some aspects, a UE may select a first type of antenna for communication with a base station based at least in part on a beam management procedure that uses an RSRP parameter determined using a downlink reference signal associated with a single antenna port; measure a CSI-RS resource for CSF, associated with multiple antenna ports, using a second type of antenna and after selecting the first type of antenna; compare a first spectral efficiency parameter associated with communicating using the first type of antenna and a second spectral efficiency parameter determined based at least in part on measuring the CSI-RS resource for CSF using the second type of antenna; and select one of the first type of antenna or the second type of antenna for subsequent communication with the base station based at least in part on comparing the first spectral efficiency parameter and the second spectral efficiency parameter.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to minimizing the block error rate (BLER) experienced by a user equipment (UE) upon a downlink beam switch at the base station. The UE may measure the reference signal received power (RSRP) of each of a plurality of downlink beams during a beam sweep and modify an automatic gain control (AGC) state of the UE based on the difference in RSRP between a current downlink beam and an expected downlink beam expected to be selected by the base station for subsequent unicast downlink transmissions to the UE. In some examples, the expected downlink beam may have a highest RSRP among all of the measured RSRPs of the different downlink beams. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Techniques for wireless communications are described that provide for adjustment of a frequency offset based on switching between uplink/downlink (UL/DL) transmission/reception beam pairs between a UE and a base station. A connection may be established via a first UL/DL transmission/reception beam pair and a frequency tracking loop may be established to correct for frequency error (e.g., due to Doppler shift) of received transmissions at a receiving device. In cases where a beam switch is performed, and the UE and base station switch from the first to a second UL/DL transmission/reception beam pair, a frequency offset difference between the first and second UL/DL transmission/reception beam pairs may be applied to the frequency tracking loop. The frequency offset difference may be obtained from a table of frequency offset measurements of multiple beam pairs using associated reference signal transmissions.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may monitor multiple beam pair links (BPLs) including a first BPL currently used by the UE to communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station), and a second BPL. The first BPL comprises a first network beam and a first UE beam, and the second BPL comprises a second network beam and a second UE beam. The UE may decide to switch beams from using the first BPL to using the second BPL based on signaling from the network node or autonomously. When the beam switch is made, the UE switches uplink (UL) transmission from over the first UE beam to over the second UE beam. After the beam switch is made, the UE transmits in the UL over the second UE beam using UL timing adjusted based on the first and second propagation delays.

Abstract: In order to enable asynchronous, autonomous reception beam switching at a UE while minimizing degradation due to a transient in link performance, a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives CSI-RS on different reception beams in different symbols, wherein one reception beam being a current serving reception beam, and determines whether to switch to a different reception beam based on a SPEFF metric for the different reception beam and/or a severity of a potential link transient qualified in terms of the expected CQI/MCS degradation in the channel. The apparatus may switch from a current serving reception beam to a second reception beam when a first channel quality for the current serving reception beam is within a threshold value of a second channel quality for the second reception beam, the second channel quality being measured using a current configuration.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a power harvesting protocol at a network entity and a channel engineering device (CED) of a wireless communication network. In some aspects, the network entity and the CED may implement a power harvesting protocol that includes power harvesting capabilities and configuration signaling to support power harvesting at the CED. The CED may provide a power harvesting capabilities message to the network entity that includes a parameter that indicates capabilities for power harvesting. The network entity may respond with a power harvesting configuration message to configure the CED for power harvesting. After configuration of the CED, the network entity may transmit dedicated and non-dedicated (or opportunistic) power harvesting signals to the CED for use by the CED for power harvesting. The dedicated and non-dedicated power harvesting signals may be periodic or aperiodic.

Abstract: Aspects of disclosure relate to dynamically modifying a synchronization signal block (SSB) beam configuration in a wireless communication system. In an aspect, a UE receives, from a base station, a first message triggering the UE to measure a signal strength of SSB beams transmitted from the base station. The UE then sends, to the base station, a second message including a report of the signal strength of the SSB beams and receives, from the base station, a third message indicating at least an SSB beam of the SSB beams or a quasi-colocation (QCL) type to use based on the report. The UE then establishes a connection with the base station using an indicated SSB beam or QCL type.
