Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that utilize a general purpose (GP) reference signal for non-coherent millimeter-wave communication are discussed. The GP reference signal may have a special structure allowing it to be flexibly used by a mobile device for multiple purposes. A base station may determine a repetition factor for a repetitive intra-symbol GP reference signal mapping based on an event that triggered transmission of the GP reference signal. The base station may also map the GP reference signal to resource elements of a symbol based, at least in part, on the determined repetition factor of the repetitive intra-symbol GP reference signal mapping. The base station may also transmit the mapped GP reference signal. A mobile device may receive the GP reference signal and modify at least one parameter of a plurality of parameters based, at least in part, on processing of the GP reference signal.

Abstract: In one aspect, performing, by a wireless communication device, a non-coherent encoding operation on first data to generate a first transmission, wherein the non-coherent encoding operation encodes data independent of channel state information (CSI); and transmitting, by the wireless communication device, the first transmission, wherein the first transmission is non-coherently encoded. In another aspect, receiving, by a wireless communication device, a first transmission, wherein the first transmission is non-coherently encoded independent of channel state information (CSI); and performing, by the wireless communication device, a non-coherent decoding operation on the first transmission to decode the first transmission. Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply a modified interference cleaning data to account for differences in interference between at least one pilot resource and at least one data resource, thereby improving data decoding performance of the UE. The UE receives at least one pilot resource and at least one data resources from a base station and identifies interference cleaning data based on the pilot resource. The UE then determines whether a first interference affecting the pilot resource is the same as a second interference affecting the data resource. When the first interference is the same as the second interference, the UE applies the interference cleaning data to the data resource. Otherwise, when the first interference is different than the second interference, the apparatus applies a modified interference cleaning data to the data resource.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing PAPR in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to suppressing the amplitudes of a data signal that exceed a threshold amplitude level. In some implementations, a transmitting device may detect one or more peaks associated with a data signal to be transmitted to a receiving device. A peak may be any sample of a data signal having an amplitude that exceeds a threshold amplitude level. The transmitting device generates peak suppression information indicating the amplitude, a phase and a position of each of the samples associated with the detected peaks. The transmitting device adjusts the data signal by reducing the amplitudes associated with the detected peaks and transmits the adjusted data signal, with the peak suppression information, to the receiving device. In some implementations, the transmitting device may compress the peak suppression information to reduce the overhead of the transmission.
