Abstract: To simplify the reconfiguration of switches in a building automation switch panel, touch switches (27) of the mechanical, capacitive or charge transfer type are configured so that the electrode pattern (25) on the switch body can be activated using switch positions on a cover plate (27). The electrode pattern on the reverse face of the cover plate are selected so that a set of cover plates in combination with a single switch body provides as many switch positions as the body can provide. This makes reconfiguring, a matter of changing the front cover plate of the switch and using a software program to reconfigure the electronics if necessary.

Abstract: The invention relates to the provision of key covers, viz. key stickers, key caps or the like, each of which is adapted to be attached to a key of a keyboard in use and each of which may be provided with a customising legend, pattern, image of a cartoon character or an image of a real life character. The key covers may also bear a visible legend corresponding to the legend on which the key cover may be attached in use. The key covers are intended for use with any device that comprises keys in any configuration, such devices being computer keyboards, a typewriter, a telephone handset, a play-station console or the like. Where the key covers are formatted as stickers, the stickers are pre-coated with an ahdesive to facilitate the ready attachment and detachment of the stikers to and from associated keys. The key stickers of this invention are of planar configuration and each of which comprises a tab portion that, in use, is folded over a front edge portion of the key to which it is attached, the tab portion bearing said corresponding legend. The customising legend, pattern or image may comprise the name or logo of a commercial organisation and thereby constitute advertising on said keys.

Abstract: A cover plate (5) for use with an electrical supply. In one embodiment, the backlit cover plate comprises a plate (5), the plate (5) including a window (15) therein; and backlighting, the backlighting powered by the electrical supply (55), the backlighting (20) disposed to be mounted on the plate (5) so as to shine through the window (15). Optional labels (45) may be provided through which the backlighting may shine, thereby illuminating data on the labels (45) from behind. In a disclosed embodiment, the backlighting (20) comprises electroluminescent lighting.
