Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
A direct current to alternating current inverter includes no transformer or inductors in the power circuit, thereby avoiding losses normally associated with such components. The inverter includes a low power, sinusoidal signal source (10) rectified to provide a rectified reference sine wave, a series string of battery groups (26), (28), (30) and (32), an output bridge circuit (14) connected to the rectified reference sine wave to provide an alternating output waveform conforming to the rectified reference sine wave, and a series of electrical switches (42), (44) and (46) responsive to the rectified sine wave to sequentially switch associated battery groups to the output bridge circuit (14), thereby adding power from the batteries to the alternating output waveform.
Abstract:
Aqueous slurries of fine coal are dewatered by a process which comprises mixing a mixture of a water-soluble organopolysiloxane and a water-emulsifiable organopolysiloxane with the slurry, separating the slurry to recover the fine coal and further drying the fine coal, if desired. The use of a mixture of a water-soluble organopolysiloxane and a water-emulsifiable organopolysiloxane unexpectedly provides improved separating and/or improved drying of fine coal compared to a dewatering process that uses only one of the organopolysiloxanes.
Abstract:
Organopolysiloxanes which contain aliphatic unsaturation and silicon-bonded alkoxy groups where the alkoxy groups are present in the form of units such as (FORMULA) where n is 2 to 4, m is 1 to 6, a is 0 or 1 and R is lower alkyl are useful as adhesion promoters for silicone elastomers.
Abstract:
Compositions, stable in the absence of oxygen, are formed by mixing the following substantially in the absence of oxygen: (A) 100 parts by weight of at least one mercapto-functional organosiloxane containing at least two mercapto-functional substituents per molecule; (B) a catalytic amount of an iron carbonyl compound catalyst selected from the group consisting of Fe(CO)5, Fe2(CO)9, Fe3(CO)12, dicyclopentadienyldiiron tetracarbonyl, butadieneiron tricarbonyl and cyclohexadieneiron tricarbonyl, preferably from 0.1 to 6 parts by weight of catalyst per 100 parts by weight of part (A); (C) optionally, at least one filler; and (D) 0.1 to 6 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of redox compound such as copper (II) sulfate or iron (III) oxide. The compositions polymerize or cure to form higher molecular weight products upon exposure to oxygen. The use of a redox compound appears to increase the cross-link density of the cured composition and results in harder resins and more durable elastomers. An important novel feature of the redox compounds is that their use enables one to formulate compositions which cure to low-modulus elastomers possessing excellent unprimed adhesion to many common substrates such as glass, metal and concrete. Such low-modulus elastomeric compositions are very desirable for use as building sealants.
Abstract:
Oxygen curable compositions are prepared by mixing mercaptoorganopolysiloxanes, aliphatically unsaturated polydiorganosiloxanes and a dicyclopentadienyl iron compound. Suitable dicyclopentadienyl iron compounds include ferrocene and various ferrocene derivatives.
Abstract:
A coating composition comprising a carboxy-functional siloxane fluid, an organic titanate and a volatile diluent is applied to a water-impermeable surface and dried. The treated surface has the properties of promoting water-droplet formation, rather than water-film formation when rained upon and releasing frozen water, such as ice, snow, sleet and frost under a very low force.
