Abstract:
Abstract:
A medical dressing comprising a backing layer and a self-supporting substrate. The backing layers form a perimeter around the self supporting substrate and hold the self supporting substrate in place on a wound.
Abstract:
A wound dressing includes one or more layers containing a first anti-microbial agent and at least one of: a chelating agent, and a second anti-microbial agent.
Abstract:
The invention provides means to support a diaper away from the genitals, particularly for use where surgery has taken place in or around that area. The means takes the form of a genital shield (1) for use with a diaper but may also be a suitably adapted diaper or a diaper which includes such a genital shield. The genital shield is preferably locatable beneath a diaper and has a fluid penetrable semi-rigid body (2) shaped to fit over the genital region and hold the diaper away.
Abstract:
A therapeutic device for promoting the healing of a wound in a mammal is disclosed. An exemplary device comprises a permeable structure having a plurality of depressions formed in a surface thereof. In use, the surface having the depressions is disposed adjacent a surface of the wound. A method of treating a wound comprises the steps of providing a permeable structure comprising a plurality of randomly disposed fibers and having i) a plurality of wound surface contact elements disposed between end portions of the structure, and ii) a plurality of voids defined by the contact elements; and applying the permeable structure to at least one surface of the wound.
Abstract:
A die apparatus (18), a method of using the die apparatus to produce co-extruded polymeric articles, and co-extruded polymeric articles produced using the die apparatus and method are disclosed. The die apparatus (18) includes a hollow vane (44) configured to extrude a material into a chamber (60) within the die, thereby producing a co-extruded web (12). The co-extruded web (12) has a plurality of distinct, discontinuous phases (59) in the cross-web direction, the phases having a uniform width as shown by a coefficient of variation of less than 8 percent for any three consecutive phases. The phases (59) are substantially continuous down-web and are surrounded by a matrix having two or more layers (61, 63).
Abstract:
There is described an adhesive dressing comprising a backing layer having a pressure sensitive adhesive layer over one surface thereof, a pad adhered to a portion of the adhesive layer, a removable protector which covers the remainder of the adhesive layer and a conformable support layer which is lightly attached to the non-adhesive surface of the backing layer characterised in that the removable protector is provided with an aperture through which the pad is adhered to the adhesive layer.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for the non-invasive determination of one or more preselected analytes in a body fluid expressed through the skin. The fluid is collected in a dermal concentration patch and concentrated by driving off a portion of the substantial water fraction under the influence of body heat. The analyte is optimally complexed with an immobilized specific binding partner and an indicium of the presence of the analyte is visually expressed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reinforced absorbent article that includes one or more reinforcement means. The reinforced absorbent article allows for the use of high-speed processing without machinery malfunction and downtime. In one embodiment the reinforced absorbent article is a reinforced absorbent food pad.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a body hygiene article such as, for example, an infant's panty-napkin adapted to protect the wearer's genital system, comprising a soft and impermeable outer sheet (2) and an absorbent layer (8, 9) arranged inside said outer sheet. The invention is characterized in that it further comprises a protective shell (5) permeable to liquids separated from the soft and impermeable outer sheet by at least part (8) of the absorbent layer, and arranged and configured so as to be sufficiently rigid to cover the genital system.
