Abstract:
A device for sealing and securing a catheter at its insertion site in order to provide for optimum safe catheter function, and to achieve maximum catheter longevity/dwell time is described. The sterile seal achieved by this device fully protects the catheter and its insertion site from external contamination. The unique sterile seal also functions to fully stabilize and secure the catheter, thereby minimizing traumatic catheter injury and loss. A means of continuously viewing the insertion site is also provided, as well as mechanisms for maintaining sterility of the sterile chamber that is formed around the catheter insertion site by the integrated sealing and securing device. Together these features allow for improved catheter safety and function, and allow catheters to safely remain in place for an extended period of time. The need to change catheter dressings at intervals is minimized or eliminated.

An instant breathable cast includes an inner sleeve of an absorbent moisture wicking porous innermost layer allowing air and liquid to pass through and a shock absorbing intermediate layer having a plurality of openings therein allowing air and liquid to pass there through; and a protective pliable outer sleeve having a plurality of openings therein allowing air and liquid to pass there through; and method of application thereof.
Abstract:
It is described a device (10) for the protection of skin lesions (11) of various kinds, in particular lesions following biopsy interventions, comprising: a first sheet having a central opening; a spacing element on the first sheet, made of a non-rigid material soaked with substances having bacteriostatic, bactericidal, germicidal or fungicidal activity, and having a central opening of smaller size than the central opening in the first sheet, and the center of which is essentially coincident with the center of the opening in the first sheet, so that part of the spacing element comes into contact with the skin in an area surrounding the lesion (11); and a second sheet, made with a material having micro-porosity preferably lower than 0.5 μm, placed over the spacing element so as to close the top of the central opening in said spacing element and to form, when the device (10) is in contact with the skin, a closed chamber (12).
Abstract:
A wound dressing garment is provided. The wound dressing garment includes a wearable garment including a portion having a hole configured to receive a wound dressing therein in combination with the wound dressing. The wound dressing includes a border connecting the wound dressing to the wearable garment where the border extends around the perimeter of the hole to locate the wound dressing therein. The wound dressing may include one or more additional layers including a hydrogel layer.
Abstract:
A substrate based skin contact material formed from a hydrocolloid having a silicone based component extending over regions of the substrate surface. The adhesive is formed non- continuously over the substrate to provide areas devoid of adhesive to allow appreciable moisture transfer between the skin and substrate and improve the skin friendliness of the material during use and allow convenient removal with avoidance of skin irritation.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for wound treatment, which can be used for the vacuum wound treatment of surface wounds. The object of the invention is to specify a device which permits adequate ventilation of the wound. Part of a conventional wound-covering plaster (2), which covers the wound area completely in an airtight manner with respect to the outside, is provided with at least one opening (21) which is located over the wound area and on which a stack (1) of layers is provided, the stack consisting of at least a filter disk (11), at least one paper-like disk (12) which is open to vapor diffusion but at the same time watertight, and at least one further flexible film (14), likewise having an opening (141) which is arranged in the wound plaster (2) in a manner corresponding to the opening (21). Said flexible film (14) covers and seals all the aforementioned layer pack components with the wound plaster (2) directly or indirectly laterally and in the edge area (15) in a sealing manner, at least one watertight disk (12) being arranged in such a way that it seals said layer stack (1) on the side facing the outside air.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a layer composite, suited as a wound dressing, comprising a foam layer (10) and a cover layer (20), wherein the cover layer (20) comprises thermoplastic polymer, preferably polyurethane, and is at least partially directly connected to the foam layer (10), and wherein the foam layer (10) comprises a polyurethane foam which is obtained by foaming and drying a composition comprising an aqueous, anionically hydrophilized polyurethane dispersion (I). The foam can be stabilized using ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymers. The invention further relates to a method for producing a layer composite of said kind and to the use thereof, for example as a wound dressing.
Abstract:
The invention provides an adhesive support article for supporting a body part of a user. A single-sided stretchable adhesive tape blank is precut into a sheet having a central anchoring portion and a plurality of outwardly extending fingers. The sheet is marked with visual indicators to guide the user of the support article for applying the central anchoring portion onto a first exterior surface of the body part and for stretching the fingers before adhering them at a predetermined distance away from the central anchoring portion. The adhesive support article can also be provided in a support system with at least one corresponding body landmark article, providing further guidance for applying the support article to the desired body part.
Abstract:
A bandage includes a reservoir filled with a perfluorochemical fluid, saturated with oxygen. Oxygen passes through a permeable membrane to the skin or wound to promote healing, and carbon dioxide travels from the skin or wound to the reservoir.
