Abstract:
This invention relates to an energy conversion system (1) of the type used in small scale installations producing no more than 0.5Mw electric, 3Mw thermal energy output. The energy conversion system comprises a fluidized bed unit, a by-product fuel feed system, a heat exchanger, an exhaust filter and a negative pressure system. In combination, these provide a compact system capable of use with small amounts of by-product fuel that will adequately treat the by-product fuel so that it does not pose an environmental hazard. The energy conversion system thermally treats by-product and harnesses the heat generated by thermally treating the by-product. The harnessed heat may be used to produce steam or electricity and the heat, steam or electricity can be used in the operation of the installation thereby reducing the overhead operation costs of the small scale installation.
Abstract:
A unit for reducing pollutants (4) in the exhaust gases of internal combustion machines (2) composed of a fluidized bed combustor (10); an exhaust gas transfer line (11) suitable to supply the fluid bed combustor (10) with the exhaust gases coming from one or more internal combustion machines (2); and a fuel supply line (12) for the fluidized bed combustor (10). The fuel must be suitable to produce inside the fluidized bed combustor (10) a quantity of carbon and of ammonia suitable to react with the nitrogen oxides to cause reduction thereof to molecular nitrogen.
Abstract:
A plant (1) for the production of electrical energy comprising a fluid-bed combustor (2), a water/vapour- recirculation line (3), a line for conveying the exhaust gases (4) of the fluid- bed combustor (2), a vaporizer (5), and a turbine (7) connected to a current generator (8) and driven by the vapour produced. The fluid-bed combustor (2) comprises a first combustion unit (9) in which a fuel with low calorific value is burnt, and a second combustion unit (10) in which a fuel with high calorific value and separate from said first combustion unit (9) is burnt by means of a wall (11) made of a refractory material such that the two forms of combustion do not interfere with one another.
