Abstract:
There is provided a method for shaping cells in a wireless communications network. The method is performed by a network node. The method comprises acquiring previously stored spatial channel characteristics for wireless devices (WDs), the WDs being associated with a set of radio access network nodes (RANNs), the spatial channel characteristics for at least one WD of the WDs being measured between the at least one WD and at least two RANNs in the set of RANNs. The method comprises determining beam forming parameters for shaping cells for at least one RANN in the set of RANNs based on the acquired spatial channel characteristics and on a change in operation state for at least another RANN in the set of RANNs. The method comprises notifying at least one of the RANNs in the set of RANNs of the determined beam forming parameters. There is also provided a corresponding network node and computer program.

The present invention relates to a method for adapting transmission parameters in a transmitter T x in communication with at least one antenna 27; 38; 47; 57; 77, 88. The method comprises: transmitting a signal from the transmitter T x measuring at least one reflection coefficient S 11 of said signal for each antenna 27; 38; 47; 57; 77, 88, and adapting the transmission parameters based on the measured reflection coefficient S 11 . The antenna could be a transmit antenna and/ or a receive antenna. In a preferred embodiment antenna calibration may be performed by measuring propagation time for each individual transmitter chain 48 1 , 48 2 ; 78 1 , 78 2 , and compensate for differences in time delay between the individual transmitter chains 48 1 , 48 2 ; 78 1 , 78 2 to assure that the signal is transmitted simultaneously from all transmit antennas.

The invention discloses an apparatus (100) in a wireless telecommunications system, comprising at least a first antenna (110) of a first polarization and a second antenna (120) of a second polarization. The apparatus (100) additionally comprises a receiver (130) and a transmitter (140), and is intended for communication with at least one other device in the wireless telecommunications system. The apparatus (100) is equipped with means (150, 204) for estimating the polarization state of a signal which is received from the one other device, and the apparatus (100) additionally comprises means (160, 206) for adapting the polarization state of signals transmitted from the apparatus (100) to the one other device on the basis of said estimate of the received signal.
