A method and kit and components thereof for forming an abutment for interfacing a dental prosthesis to a dental implant or duplicate inserted into a patient's jaw or model thereof. An intra-implant element that is or may be bonded to an intra-crown element via a resilient bonding material to form a deformable connection is inserted into the dental implant or duplicate. The intra-crown element is adjusted relative to the intra-implant element to form a model abutment that is properly adjusted to the dental implant or duplicate and is properly positioned to receive a dental prosthesis. The connection is strengthened so that removal of the model abutment and attached dental prosthesis from the dental implant or duplicate does not deform the model abutment, the model abutment and attached dental prosthesis are removed from the dental implant or said duplicate; and the model abutment used to form a permanent abutment.
Abstract:
The invention related to medicine, in particular to surgical and orthopaedic stomatology and can be used for fixing dental prostheses. The aim of said invention is to simplify the insertion of an extraosseous part into an implant, increase an initial force for fixing said implant to an osseous tissue, reduce a treatment period, simplify the implant introduction and to form an optimal marginal gingiva. The inventive stomatological implant consists of an extraosseous part provided with a screw and an intraosseous part consisting of a gingival border and a threaded apical part. The novelty of said implant lies in that it comprises a head thereof which is provided with an internal thread and internal hexahedron for introducing said head into the implant, the use of the thread whose pitch ranges from 0.7 to 2.0 mm and the profile height thereof on the apical part is equal to 0.3-1.2 mm and the walls of a mounting bore inside the implant are provided with slots for introducing the implant into the osseous tissue.

The dental implant comprises a body portion, a collar portion and a central bore. The body portion is located at a distal end of the dental implant and is configured to lie at least substantially below a crest of a patient's jawbone. The collar portion is located at a proximal end of the dental implant and forms an abutment mating surface which defines an outer edge that has a generally scalloped shape. The central bore extends through the collar portion and into the implant body portion. The central bore includes a threaded portion and a post portion. The abutment comprises a post configured to fit within the post portion of the central bore and an implant mating surface that is configured to mate with the abutment mating surface of the dental implant.

An anchor apparatus having a threaded post (14) for threaded engagement with bone, and an upper circular receptacle (18). An angled support (13) having a lower circular base (20) and an upper female prosthesis receptacle is secured within to the implant anchor, the securing being through lower circular base (20) being engaged with and adhered to the upper circular receptacle (18) of the implant anchor. The circular base (20) has a first longitudinal axis and the upper female prosthesis receptacle has a second longitudinal axis forming a mounting angle with respect to one another. A dental prosthesis (28) having a male extension (30) shaped for cooperative engagement with the upper female prosthesis receptacle of the implant anchor is secured to the implant anchor by such cooperative engagement. An alternate embodiment integrates the threaded post and the female prosthesis receptacle into a single member, for a zero degree angle.

A method and apparatus are provided for determining the preload in a dental implant system. The preload is determined by transmitting a sonic impulse, which is preferably an ultrasonic impulse, at a predetermined frequency to the head of the implant screw through a transducer (50) which may be incorporated in the head of the screw (26), the head of a wand which generates the sonic impulse, or the transducer and pulse-generating instrumentation may be incorporated into a torque generating instrument used to tighten the screw. The preload is determined by measuring the delay between the first and second reflections through the preloaded screw to determine a preload value and comparing that value with a pre-established baseline value for the screw, and comparing the difference with a predetermined table of values to determine the preload on the screw.
