Abstract:
A packaging apparatus (1) comprising: a wrapping material applicator (3) for helically wrapping articles (A); an inlet conveyor (2) for transporting unwrapped articles to the applicator; an outlet conveyor (4) for transporting wrapped articles away from the applicator; wherein the outlet conveyor comprises a first conveyor (11) and a second conveyor (12) adjacent to and downstream of the first conveyor (11), wherein the packaging apparatus (1) further comprises a controller (80) arranged to selectively vary the linear velocity of the second conveyor relative (12) to the linear velocity of the first conveyor (11) so as to separate, or increase the separation of, collations of one or more articles (A) on the outlet conveyor.
Abstract:
Control of a wrapping apparatus (600) is facilitated by enabling an operator to input a load containment force requirement and/or a minimum number of layers of packaging material (618) to be applied to a load (606), with a wrap control system (650) automatically determining wrap force and other parameters required to meet user input requirements and/or parameters to minimize the expertise required of an operator and to provide more consistent and reliable wrapping of loads (606). In addition, a wrapping apparatus (600) may be controlled to apply at least a minimum number of layers of packaging material (618) to a load (606) throughout a contiguous region (630) thereof.
Abstract:
A method of determining a wrap force or payout percentage at which to wrap a load (12) with packaging material (16) may include dispensing packaging material (16). The method may also include forming a tear (28) in a portion of the packaging material (16). The method may further include identifying a first payout percentage at which the tear (28) exhibits a first behavior. The method may also include identifying a second payout percentage at which the tear (28) exhibits a second behavior. The method may further include selecting a third payout percentage between the first payout percentage and the second payout percentage, for wrapping the load (12).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a packaging apparatus comprising a wrapping material applicator for helically wrapping together a collation of articles, a first conveyor for transporting unwrapped collations of articles to the applicator; a second conveyor for transporting wrapped collations of articles away from the applicator; and a base band applicator upstream of the wrapping material applicator for providing a base band of wrapping material underneath the unwrapped collations of articles such that the base band extends between wrapped collations of articles downstream of the applicator and unwrapped collations of articles upstream of the applicator, the base band being wrapped together with the collations of articles. The first and second conveyors are spaced apart and the applicator is provided between them. The packaging apparatus further comprises a tensioning mechanism configured, in use, to place at least a portion of the base band under tension before an unwrapped collation of articles is placed onto that portion of the base band.
Abstract:
A system for cutting and wrapping blocks of synthetic material enables a material block to be pre-cut into a form substantially ready to be used as packaging filler while maintaining the original compact block shape for shipping and storage. In one aspect, the system takes synthetic material blocks, such as thermoplastic blocks, and sequentially drives the blocks through a cutting mechanism that cuts the blocks in two directions to form thermoplastic strips. The thermoplastic strips are held together in the original geometric form of the block through the cutting process, and thereafter a rotating wrapper applies a wrapping material to the pre-cut thermoplastic block secure the pre-cut block in the original geometric form. A block or log magazine sequentially positions multiple synthetic material blocks prior to being driven through the cutting mechanism.
Abstract:
A device for winding tapes around a longitudinal object, using a supportive hollow cylinder surrounding the object, and a ring rotatable around the cylinder. A spool shaft connected at one end to the rotatable ring bears a spool on which a tape is disposed. The spool is made to rotate around the longitudinal object dispensing the tape to subsequently wrap the object. A driving mechanism may be employed for rotating the rotatable ring and spool.
Abstract:
Packaging apparatus for helically wrapping articles with a stretchable flexible film of wrapping material. A first conveyor (11) for transports unwrapped articles towards a wrapping material applicator (13) and a second conveyor (12) transports articles that have been helically wrapped. The first and second conveyors are spaced apart and the wrapping material applicator (13) is disposed between said first and second conveyors. The wrapping material is applied between the first and second conveyors so as to wrap an article disposed in the space between the conveyors. The applicator has a rotary ring (14) that is supported in rotation by a fixed guide ring. Reels of wrapping film are mounted on the rotary ring and unwound around tensioning rollers. The relative motion of the guide and rotary rings is converted into rotation of the tensioning rollers by a gear train so that the wrapping material is stretched prior to being applied to the articles. The invention may be used to wrap any material around any sort of article.
Abstract:
The specification discloses bag making apparatus for making a tube from plastics material web material and for making bags therefrom, the apparatus (10) including a support frame (11) defining a desired internal area of the tube formed thereon, first plastics material film web dispensing means (26, 27, 28, 29) for dispensing first film webs (30) in a longitudinal direction relative to the support frame (11) such that the film webs (30) overlap and adhere to one another, a second plastics material film web dispensing means (31) for laying at least one further film web (32) in overlapping spirals over the longitudinally extending first film webs (30), and a third plastics material film web dispensing means (34, 35, 36, 37) for dispensing third film webs (38) in a longitudinal direction relative to the support frame (11) over the overlapping spiral web material (32), the apparatus further including movement conveyor means (15) extending longitudinally of the support frame (11) to enable the tube formed thereon to be moved to a discharge region and transverse tube sealing means (21) and associated transverse tube separation means (23).
Abstract:
A method and a device for packaging a load body capable of easily packaging bulk packaged material with stretch film by compressingly treating the packaged material in a rectangular parallelepiped shape, the method comprising the steps of forming the stretch film 16, 111 in tubular shape by moving to the open end sides of tubular skirt parts 1a, 101a with open ends while spirally winding the film on the outer peripheral surfaces of the tubular skirt parts 1a, 101a, and extruding the packaged materials 40, 130 from the inside of the skirt parts 1a, 101a in pressed state according to the movement of the tubular wound film, whereby the packaged materials 40, 130 are pressed into the tubular wound film delivered from the open ends of the skirt parts 1a, 101a, and the tubular wound film is cut off at positions apart from both ends of the packaged materials 40, 130 or sealed at both ends of the packaged materials 40, 130.
