    Abstract: A wire saw for cutting hard materials includes a carbon nanotube fiber wire spun from carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotube fiber wire may be made from a plurality of fibers, each fiber being spun from carbon nanotubes, the fibers being twisted together to form the wire. Furthermore, the wire may also include diamond particles, silicon carbide particles and/or extra carbon nanotubes to enhance the abrasive properties of the wire. A method is provided for slicing a silicon boule including: linearly translating a carbon nanotube fiber wire between rotating drums while maintaining the wire under tension; using a fixture, moving the silicon boule onto the moving tensioned wire, whereby the wire cuts into the silicon; delivering lubricating fluid to the surface of the silicon where contact is made with the wire; and collecting the lubricating fluid after it leaves the surface of the silicon.

    Abstract: A sheet material primarily fabric is cut by providing an anvil (12) having an substantially cylindrical wire (14) thereon defining a cutting line lying along the anvil (12) and supported thereby, by draping the fabric over the anvil (12) and by running along the wire (14) of the anvil the peripheral surface of a roller (16) so as to apply pressure between the roller surface (17) and the wire (14). The fabric is thus compressed between the roller surface (17) and the wire (14) in a pinching action which causes the wire (14) to engage into and effect cutting of the fabric along the cutting line. The roller (16) is mounted on a carriage (23) running along the anvil (12) and is spring biased onto the wire (14).

    Abstract: A fixed glass or panel removing device has elongate arm with a claw at its distal end. The device also includes a winch actuated by a motor at the proximal end of the arm. When a cutting cutting element is positioned along an adhesive bead about a periphery of a fixed glass or panel, the cutting cutting element is threaded through a puncture in the adhesive bead and attached to the winch. The claw engages a location along the adhesive bead as the winch wines in the cutting cutting element. A pulley near the distal end of the arm guides the cutting element. The device may be removed from an initial anchored position and anchored at a new position by removing the claw and placing it at another point along the periphery.
