Abstract:
Systems and methods for determining if a user's experience is in common with the experience of a larger number of individuals. A user's data relating to the user's lifestyle and wellness is received at a database. Candidate data, again relating to a candidate's lifestyle and wellness, is then selected from the database based on a comparison profile. The selected candidate data is analyzed in real time in conjunction with the user data. The results are then sent to the user on his or her data computing device or to someone working with the user on his of her health, wellness and lifestyle.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reflective telescopic system, to control the generation of filamentation of ultrashort and intense laser pulses that includes: a flat mirror, an adaptive reflective mirror, a dichroic convex mirror, an off-axis parabolic mirror, and a first laser source. The convex mirror and the adaptive reflective mirror are mounted on an independent breadboard and set on a translation stage. The propagation axis of the laser beam reflected by the mirror should correspond to the off-axis of the parabolic mirror. The parabolic mirror reflects the beam at a specific angle. Finally, the propagation axis between the dichroic convex mirror and the off-axis parabolic mirror, the propagation axis between the flat mirror and the adaptive reflective mirror, and the axis of the translation stage should be substantially parallel to each other. The present invention also contemplates the boresighting of a weak laser beam from a second laser source.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for use with haptic devices. A control system for haptic devices determines a first course of action based on a user's motion. Prior to implementing the first course of action, the control system determines if the first course of action would lead to instability in the haptic device which could cause an unsafe situation such as failure of its components. If the first course of action would lead to instability, the control device determines a second course of action that would not lead to instability and implements this second course of action. To assist in this second course of action and to prevent potential oscillation in the haptic device, the control system also selectively dampens a projected action of the haptic device. A haptic device using such a control system is also disclosed.
Abstract:
There is provided systems, methods and devices configured to supply the load requirements of any resistive, inductive, or combination device while restricting electrical energy that does not contribute to the load requirement, wherein the load requirement is defined as the amount of electrical energy required for the device to substantially achieve its objective. As found in most such loads, segments of the AC or DC signal are redundant or are not useful to a load in achieving any of its objectives. Predetermined objectives may include maintaining the production of light, motor power, or other load outputs at the same level as non-restricted loads, reduction or production of electromagnetic interference, harmonics, or other types of interference, heat production or reduction, regulation of any other wanted or unwanted output of such loads, or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
Circuits and methods related to charge domain filters. A time varying current distributor produces multiple time varying current outputs which are received by filter elements. The outputs of the filter elements are received by a selector component which selects one of the filter outputs for its output. The time varying current distributor has multiple transconductance circuits, each of which produces time varying currents which are proportional to a distributor input. The transconductance circuits are composed of transconductance sub-circuits, each of which produces time varying currents, each of which is offset from other time varying currents by a predetermined time interval.
Abstract:
A charged particle polymer hybrid (CPPH) flocculant is taught, comprising sub-micron size charged particles and a polymer which has been polymerized in the presence of the charged particles wherein the intrinsic viscosity of the hybrid polymer flocculant is less than 930 ml/g. A method is provided for producing freely draining flocculated sediment from a suspension comprising finely divided solids in water. The method comprises dispersing, at increasing concentrations, a charged particle polymer hybrid (CPPH) flocculant into the suspension to determine a starting plateau concentration of CPPH flocculant above which concentration no further increase in the solids loading of the produced floccules is observed. Then, the concentration of dispersed CPPH flocculant in the suspension is maintained at or above the starting plateau concentration. A method is further provided for separating fine solids and water from a suspension comprising finely divided solids in water. The method involves dispersing, at increasing concentrations, a charged particle polymer hybrid (CPPH) flocculant into the suspension to determine a starting plateau concentration of CPPH flocculant above which concentration no further increase in the solids loading of the produced floccules is observed. Then, the concentration of dispersed CPPH flocculant in the suspension is maintained at or above the starting plateau concentration. The dispersion of CPPH flocculant in the suspension is agitated and the solid floccules are then separated from the supernatant liquid.

An interleaver of an OFDM/OFDMA transceiver reshapes a binary vector to be transmitted into a matrix, rotates bits in respective columns of the matrix, divides respective rows of the matrix into an integer number of interleaving blocks, and interleaves the bits in the respective interleaving blocks.

A television band device has DTV pilot signal detection logic that generates DTV pilot signal detection decisions associated with a monitored television channel. A wireless microphone detection logic generates wireless microphone detection decisions associated with the monitored television channel. A sensing manager receives DTV pilot signal detection decisions and the wireless microphone detection decisions and analyzes at least one the respective decisions to determine whether the monitored television channel is available white space.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for use in classifying and measuring images of skin abnormalities. The systems and methods can be used in an AR enabled system that may be used to assist in skin surgeries and skin abnormality triaging and diagnosis. The system uses a convolutional neural network to classify a skin abnormality in an initial image. The CNN may also be used in determining the boundaries of the skin abnormality. A fiducial marker may be present in the initial image and this marker may be used in automatically measuring the size of the skin abnormality. An adjusted image is generated based on the measured abnormality and this adjusted image can be used as an overlay in an AR enabled system for use in assisting surgical procedures.
