The present invention relates to a method for measuring binocular motricity parameters and postural parameters in ecologic conditions (both eye viewing targets displaced in the real 3D space) for individuals suffering from vertigo comprising at least two REMOBI tests of eye movements and a posture test, wherein the REMOBI tests are performed using a device physically stimulating vergences or saccades in the real world in three dimensions and contain multiple trials for each type of stimulation, vergences or saccades. The REMOBI eye movement tests are performed once with the individual in seated position and the other time with the individual in standing position. In the latter case, posture is measured simultaneously. It further relates to a method for detecting intrinsic binocular motor abnormalities and/or postural control abnormalities in an individual suffering from vertigo using the same vergence and posture tests. It also relates to a method for improving binocular motor coordination and postural control in an individual suffering from vertigo.

The present invention is in the field of learning disorders such as dyslexia, and more particularly to the functional exploration and rehabilitation of ocular motor coordination in such individuals. It relates to a method for measuring binocular motricity parameters in an individual suffering from a learning disorder comprising based on ocular motor tests comprising at least a reading test, a vergence test and a saccade test, wherein the vergence test and the saccade test are performed using a device physically stimulating vergences or saccades in the real world in three dimensions and contain multiple trials of vergence or saccade stimulation. Embodiments related to analyzing brain activity of a subject to identify signs associated with binocular rivalry. Sensed electrical activity of a subject's brain is received over a time period while the subject is exposed to a visual stimulus. The sensed electrical activity comprises a first frequency band associated with a first frequency of a first image presented to the subject's left eye, a second frequency band associated with a second frequency of a second image presented to the subject's right eye. A set of events in the time period is determined based on the frequency bands, wherein an event is associated with a change from a previous perceptual event to a new perceptual event. A metric for the subject is determined based on the set of events. The metric is analyzed to determine whether the subject exhibits signs associated with a condition that is associated with binocular rivalry.

Systems, apparatus, and methods are provided for quantifying inter-ocular suppression in binocular vision impairment. The systems, apparatus, and methods may include a stimulus presentation device and a controller which present different stimuli to each eye of a patient. The stimuli can include letters, numbers, or shapes which are arranged in rows, and columns with a stimulus presented to each eye in a location corresponding a stimulus presented to the other eye. The combined contrast of corresponding stimuli equals a predetermined value, and this contrast can be adjusted with each iteration of stimuli presented. This adjustment can be based upon the patient's reports of what is seen and adjustments made by an algorithm executed by the controller. Suppression can thus be determined in terms of visual field location and quantified.
