Abstract: The invention relates to a computer program causing a system with a computer to execute a method for determining a visual acuity, wherein the system comprises an optical system with a display system that is configured to independently project a visual stimulus to a left and a right eye of a test person, wherein the visual stimulus comprises a plurality of patches arranged on a background, an eye-tracking system configured to record a gaze direction of the left as well as the right eye, a computer configured to control the optical system and to receive recorded data from the eye-tracking system, with the steps of: • executing a trial session for determining the visual acuity, wherein the trial session comprises a plurality of the visual stimuli that are presented, with the optical system to the left and/or the right eye of the test person; • recording data during the trial session comprising information on the gaze direction; • determining from the recorded data of the trial session at least the visual acuity by analyzing a movement, particularly a correlation of a movement of the left and the right eye of the test person in response to the presented visual stimuli of the trial session, wherein the patches are iso-luminant with respect to the background, the patches exhibit a luminance distribution that periodically varies with a spatial frequency, and wherein each patch is a bounded set covering only a fraction of the background.

Abstract: A method of at-home monitoring of eye conditions using a head mounted display that is capable of establishing a visual model associated with a patient. The visual model may include data related to a quality of the patient's vision. The patient may use the system to establish a visual model periodically, such as daily, and the system may compare the visual model to previous visual models and send an alert to the patient's physician if changes meeting a given criteria are detected. This may allow the physician to immediately take steps to save the patient's eyesight where a delay in treatment may result in vision loss.

Abstract: Some systems and methods disclosed herein facilitate calibration of a head-mounted display while a visual test is performed. One mechanism of facilitating calibration involves detecting, as a visual test is being performed, that the user's eyes moved in the direction of a displayed stimulus but have not stopped at the point of where the stimulus is displayed, and instead stopped at a different point (e.g., a threshold distance away from the stimulus). Based on that detection, the system may determine that the user has seen the stimulus and that calibration of the sensors is needed. The system may then record that the user has seen the stimulus and perform sensor calibration before displaying the next stimulus.
