摘要:
A machineable envelope assembly (130) includes an envelope (140) and a strip (150) releasably attached to the envelope. The strip extends out from the envelope flap (162) when the strip (150) lies flat relative to the envelope pocket panels (154, 158) to define with the panels a rectangle having a full letter-size paper width. Thus, when the assembly (130) is in a paper tray (114) of a printer or copier (110), the assembly (130) is configured and sized to engage both sides of the paper tray (114), so that the envelope (140) is continually aligned and does not skew during a feeding and printing process in the printer or copier (110). Thereby the address(es) and/or any PC printed postage are printed straight and accurately positioned in the envelope (140). The assemblies (130) can be stacked into printer (110) infeed trays (114) and automatically fed therefrom for mass printings and mailings.

An envelope capable of eliminating the possibility of being damaged even if processed through a mechanical device and sealing and unsealing easily when used, comprising a flap piece (3) for sealing to be stuck on the outer surface of an envelope main body (2), characterized in that a perforation (5) is formed in the envelope main body (2) at a position covered substantially by the stuck flap piece (3) and the perforation (5) is formed along the end part (3b) of the stuck flap piece (5).

The invention relates to an enveloping method in which an envelope is stuffed and sealed. The method consists of a first step in which an envelope blank is provided. It consists of a rectangular or square first sheet of paper. Each side edge of the sheet of paper has a flap. The flap can be folded along the respective side edge. In a second step, a plurality of sheets of paper are placed on top of the first sheet of paper. In a third step, the flaps are folded along the side edges and glued to the outermost sheet of paper. The invention also relates to an envelope blank for forming part of an envelope and is intended for use with the invented method. The envelope blank consists of a rectangular or square first sheet of paper (1). It has a flap (2), which can be folded along the side edge (3), on each side edge (3).

An envelope (11) consisting of a front side (12) and a rear side (16) which are interconnected by side flaps (19), has a fold-back flap (18) to which a layer of contact adhesive (23) is applied. The adhesive used is a strong contact adhesive which is effective without moistening or activation by any other means. The fold-back flap is laid against the rear side (16) of the envelope for the purposes of transport and storage, an area (22) coated with a parting agent being provided so that the adhesive can be detached before use. The envelope is closed by pressing the otherwise uncoated closing flap (14) onto the adhesive-coated fold-back flap. The adhesive is applied to the fold-back flap (18) by transfer, i.e. the adhesive is applied to the parting agent layer (22) during production and then transferred to the fold-back flap when the latter is redressed.

Envelope including a bottom portion (1), a closing tab (2) folding onto the bottom portion (1) and a means for sealing the envelope provided with a protective film (3), characterized in that the sealing means is arranged on the bottom portion.
摘要:
A variable size envelope (10) with a single closure flap (14) that may be selectively folded along either of two different fold lines (34, 36) to provide two different sizes of envelopes. A pocket (24) for holding papers or other documents may be formed by a single rear panel (38) or two rear panels (16, 18) joined together. The height of the closure flap (14) is preferably equal to the height of the panels so that the envelope (10) when folded into a smaller size presents a flat envelope of uniform thickness which may be processed through automatic mechanical printing equipment, laser printing equipment and copying machines, then unfolded and later used as a larger size envelope. Adhesive strips (28, 30) are provided on the closure flap (14) for the purpose of sealing the envelope (10). The adhesive used for the strips is preferably a stable, water-activated, or moisture-activated adhesive, which is not significantly affected by either heat or exposure to high humidity facilitating use of the envelope during laser printing or xerographic copying. A stable, pressure-sensitive adhesive covered by a peel-off strip (32) may also be used for the adhesive strips (28, 30) on the closure flap (14).
