    Abstract: An anchor for tensile member(s) includes: a housing having a hollow interior; a collet in the hollow interior of the housing, the collet having a peripheral wall defining a central bore and an exterior surface. The collet is configured to be swaged around the tensile member(s). The collet includes longitudinal grooves in an outer surface of the peripheral wall, each defining a web configured to collapse inward in response to external compressive force. A sleeve has a peripheral wall defining interior and exterior surfaces and is disposed in the housing axially adjacent to the collet. At least one of the collet and the sleeve is tapered and the sleeve and the collet are arranged such that sleeve movement from a first position to a second position will cause the sleeve to bear against the collet, swaging the collet radially inwards around and against the tensile member(s).

    Abstract: A surgical instrument comprises an outer shaft, an inner shaft at least partially disposed within the outer shaft, a handle, and a coupling assembly having a predetermined threshold that couples the handle to the outer shaft in one of an engaged configuration and disengaged configuration. In the engaged configuration, rotation of the handle supplies a torque to the outer shaft. In the disengaged configuration, the handle rotates independently of the outer shaft. The inner shaft has a probe end, a transfer end opposite the probe end, and is arranged to transfer a mechanical force received at the probe end to the coupling assembly via the transfer end. The coupling assembly couples the handle to the outer shaft (i) in the engaged configuration when the mechanical force is greater than a threshold and (ii) in the disengaged configuration when the mechanical force is less than or equal to the threshold.

    Abstract: A retaining plate with locking mechanism assembly includes a retaining plate having a first screw hole extending therethrough and a spring blocker rotatably mounted in plate proximate to the first screw hole. The spring blocker includes a body portion, a first land extending radially from the body portion above the retaining plate, and a first wing extending tangentially from the first land in a first arc. When a first screw is inserted into the first screw hole, when the spring blocker is rotated to a first position, the first land extends over a portion of the first screw. When the spring blocker is rotated to a second position, the first wing extends over the portion of the first screw.     Abstract: A method for controlled delivery of fluids to the exterior of bone and surrounding tissue of a patient includes providing a cannulated bone rod. The method further includes creating an aperture in the skin of a patient and fixating the rod along bones or bone fragments using a spinal fixation system through the aperture. A spinal fixation system includes a bone screw having a longitudinal access and a bone rod configured to connect the bone screw to at least one additional bone screw. The bone rod is lateral to the longitudinal axis. The method further includes the steps of providing a fluid source, coupling the fluid source to the bone rod, and delivering a fluid from the fluid source into the bone rod. An additional method includes using the fixation system as a point of drainage for the posterolateral fusion site.
