摘要： A garment comprises a span member having a right upper portion, a left upper portion, and a lower middle portion and defining an open space between the right and left upper portions. A waistband is connected to the right and left upper portions of the span member. The span member is substantially rigid such that movement of the right upper portion away from the left upper portion is resisted, and such that circumferential tension is maintained along the waistband sufficient to maintain the garment in a desired location on a wearer's body. The fabric of the garment is attached to the span member to form a garment with an open space between the right and left upper portions of the span member.

摘要： A method of attaching a waistband to a garment is disclosed which comprises forming a waistband from a fabric having an attached interlining, folding the waistband above the edge of a garment to which it is to be attached, deforming at least one portion of the waistband so as to shorten its apparent width, stitching the waistband to the garment, and allowing or causing the waistband to return to its original width thereby hiding the stitching. Preferably the interlining is a resilient fusible interlining, but need not be. Preferably also, the width of the interlining is effectively the same width as the final waistband width when attached to the garment. An apparatus is disclosed for performing the method which comprises a folder additionally provided with a blade and presser bar whereby to deform the fabric of the waistband as it passes through the sewing zone and reduce its width.

摘要： There is described a pants securing means, particularly suitable for use with jeans, in which a padlock shackle receiving staple (17) is secured to an inner fly flap (11) of the pants at the waistband. A button-hole (20) is provided in the outer fly flap of the waistband and passes the shackle so that a padlock (32) may be secured to the shackle to lock the waistband. In a second embodiment a hasp (26) is secured adjacent the extreme edge of the outer fly flap and is hingedly connected so that is can be bent into cooperating position with the button-hole to pass the staple into padlock engaging position. A padlock key (35) may be provided on a chain secured to a belt loop on the waistband so as to be available to unlock the padlock.
