Abstract: The invention relates to a frost-proof device for watering animals, in particular, mammals such as horses, cows, sheep or similar. Said device comprises an automatic drinking bowl and a reservoir tank. The automatic drinking bowl comprises an actuating element which comes into contact with the animal taking water. Whilst drinking, the animal presses against said actuating element, thus displacing a valve into a release position and allowing water to flow into a drinking basin. The device is characterised in that the valve (8) is positioned inside the reservoir tank (2) and that a spacer member (10) is located between the actuating element (17) and the valve (8) which transmits the movement of the actuating element (11) to the valve (8).
