Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to a sealed storage tank. The sealed storage tank includes a polymeric layer having a thickness in a range of from about 0.05 mm to about 1 mm. The sealed storage tank further includes a fibrous scrim layer directly contacting the polymeric layer. The fibrous scrim layer includes a denier value in a range of from about 500 denier to about 1500 denier. The polymeric layer is optionally substantially translucent or transparent and is optionally at least partially visible through the fibrous scrim layer.
Abstract:
The present disclosure refers to an apparatus for feeding an infant animal has in one embodiment a nipple combination comprising a one-way valve engaged with the proximal end of the tube of a nipple, and an open rather than self-sealing nipple aperture. A self-sealing nipple aperture is obviated by the one-way valve in the distal end of the tube of the nipple.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to compositions and methods of killing bacteria using a surface plasmon coupled to a photosensitizer. A nanostructure (10) may include a silver nanoparticle core (12), a mesoporous silica shell (14), and a photosensitizer (16). A method of killing bacteria may include contacting bacteria with a nanostructure (10) including a silver nanoparticle core (12), a mesoporous silica shell (14), and a photosensitizer (16) to form a blend and exposing the blend to light.
Abstract:
Calf wet-nurse (10) comprising a container (11) provided with at least one supply opening (12) for on one hand dry powder and on the other hand liquid as well as a delivery duct (13) for the distribution of ready-mixed nutrient solution, wherein the container (11) is provided with at least one mixing duct (181, 182) connected to the container (11), at least one medium passage (191, 192, 193, 194) being arranged between the mixing duct (182, 183) and the container (11). The invention also concerns a method for a calf wet-nurse.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are formulations comprising an N -halogenated or N,N - dihalogenated amine compound dispersed in a water-swellable polymer, wherein the compound is 90% stable for at least 30 days at about 25 0 C. Also disclosed are methods of treating or preventing infections caused by a bacterial, a microbial, a sporal, a fungal or a viral activity using such formulations.
Abstract:
A system and method for producing milk is disclosed in which the milk from a single animal is handled and processed separately from milk produced by other animals. On packaging the processed product, an indication specific to that animal may be included on the package.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of and an implement for automatically feeding animals, such as calves, in which the amount of feed is attuned to the nutritive need of the individual animal and the feed is yielded by a milking machine.
Abstract:
The invention described is a valve assembly adapted for use in an animal feeding teat and an animal feeding teat in combination with the above valve assembly. The valve assembly comprises: a piston shaft (10) with a piston head (12), a valve head (14) attached to the piston shaft (10) at the end of the shaft opposite the piston head (12), and biasing means (16) co-operable with said piston head (12), so that in use in an animal feeding teat said valve head (14) is seated to cover a first aperture (22) in said teat (17) and pressure on said piston head (12) against said biasing means (16) will unseat said valve head (14) and open said aperture (22). The invention described extends to a combination of the above valve assembly together with an animal feeding teat.
Abstract:
A valve (1) is described comprising a port (5) formed in a wall (6) associated with a first fluid-containing space. Port (5) communicates between an interior and an exterior of the container (2). It comprises a working space (7) adjacent the port (5), wherein the working space (7) diverges from the port (5) towards the interior. In use, a fluid interface (8), such as a meniscus, forms in the working space (7) which inhibits egress therethrough of a fluid stored within the container and which permits another fluid such as air to enter therethrough into the container. In other embodiments the port is provided in a closure of the container (particularly a nursing bottle) or in a wall of a conduit.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for supplying feed to domestic animals, especially calves or lambs, comprising a feed supply outlet (15.1 to 15.3), especially a dish for liquids or a sucking point, and at least one feed source (10.1 to 10.4). Said device is characterized in that a buffer element (1) is positioned between the at least one feed source (10.1 to 10.4) and the feed supply outlet (15.1 to 15.2).
