Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for removing defects on a stationary web of a packaging material (106), comprising moving said web of packaging material (106) through a repair line from a first rotatable roller (121) to a second rotatable roller (122) in a first direction, cutting off said web of packaging material (106) at a first predetermined position, guiding said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) into a second direction, wasting said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) by movement in said second direction to a waste station, cutting off said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) at a second predetermined position, guiding said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) back into said first direction, splicing said web of packaging material (106) of said first roller (121) back together with said web of packaging material (106) of said second roller (122) at said first predetermined position, wherein said method is automated. The invention further relates to a device for removing defects on a stationary web of a packaging material.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for splicing two thermofusible articles (2, 3) in the form of strips or layers, comprising at least the following steps, according to the invention: -making a transverse cutout in one of the articles (2, 3), referred to as the first article (2), and removing one of the cutout parts; -manually positioning the other article, referred to as the second article (3), in place of the removed part, and overlapping the first article (2); -making a transverse cutout in the part of the second article (3) that overlaps the first article (2), and removing this cutout part; -automatically and mechanically positioning the second article (3) to overlap the first article (2) according to a predefined length corresponding, at most, to a weld width; -carrying out the transverse welding of the overlapping area of the two articles (2, 3) according to said weld width.
Abstract:
A system and process is described for producing spirally wound products. According to the process of the present disclosure, two or more webs are conveyed together in a superimposed relationship. The webs are then separated such that one web goes to a first winding module while a second web goes to a second winding module, etc. In this manner, at least two spirally wound products can be produced simultaneously. The process and system of the present disclosure are particularly well suited for processing tissue webs, such as paper towels and bath tissue. The process of the present disclosure can effectively at least double throughput on existing winding systems.
Abstract:
In the description and drawings methods and apparatus for the compression and winding of a plurality of overlapped fibrous blankets are disclosed. The methods and apparatus may allow a leading edge of a trailing blanket to be overlapped with a trailing edge of a leading blanket that is being wound by a compressing winder assembly. As the compressing winder assembly winds the leading blanket, the trailing blanket may be moved downstream by the leading blanket and an overlapped portion of the two blankets may move through a compression zone of a winder feed chute.
Abstract:
A splice is made, between a tail end of first web and a lead end of a second web coiled about an unwind axis, by winding a portion of the first web adjacent the tail end of the first web about a splicing roll mounted for rotation about a splice roll axis oriented substantially parallel to the unwind axis, and then joining the tail end to the lead end by compressing an adhesive between an inside surface of the tail end and an outer surface of the second web. Compression of the adhesive is accomplished by urging the splice roll against the coiled second web while the coiled second web is rotating about the unwind axis in an unwind direction and the splicing roll is rolling about the splice roll axis in a direction opposite to the unwind direction.
Abstract:
A web processing machine permitting inspection and repair of a roll of web material includes an inspection zone vertically juxtaposed to a splicing zone. The inspection zone is structured to be removed from the juxtaposed position to a retracted position in which the splicing zone is exposed to permit an operator to perform a modification of the web without having to substantially move physically from the position in which the operator was located to perform inspection while the machine is running.
