Abstract:
A plurality of fuses (142, 152, 162, 172) are arranged in pairs and configured such that each pair of fuses represents a data bit when one fuse of the pair is blown (152, 162); represents an un-programmed bit when no fuse of the pair is blown (142); and represents a zero-ized bit when both fuses of the pair are blown (172). A fuse programming system programs the fuses of the pairs such that each pair represents a bit, comprising blowing a first fuse of a pair to represent a "1" bit (152), blowing a second fuse of a pair to represent a "0" bit (162), and blowing both fuses of a pair to represent a zero-ized pair (172), whereby if neither fuse of a pair is blown represents a null, un-programmed bit (142).
Abstract:
A method comprises providing first user authentication data of a user and comparing the first user authentication data to first stored template data. When the comparison is indicative of a match, a first session is provided, which supports one of user access for retrieving first data that are stored within a peripheral memory storage device and user access for modifying a data content of the peripheral memory storage device. The first session does not support the other one of user access for retrieving first data that are stored within the peripheral memory storage device and user access for modifying a data content of the peripheral memory storage device. During the first session, second user authentication data of the same user is provided and compared to second stored template data. When the comparison is indicative of a match, a second session is provided, which does support the other one of user access for retrieving first data that are stored within the peripheral memory storage device and user access for modifying the data content of the peripheral memory storage device.
Abstract:
A technique for securing a flash memory block in a secure device system involves cryptographic techniques including the generation of a Message Authentication Code (MAC). The MAC may be generated each time a file is saved to one or more data blocks of a flash memory device and stored with the file's metadata and to each of the data blocks. A technique for reading and storing versioned files may be employed when applications utilize versioning.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A memory cell for storing 1-bit data is formed by using at least two memory elements in the OTP type nonvolatile memory using a memory element that have two states and can transit only in one direction. In the OTP type nonvolatile memory using a memory element that has two states of an H state (a first state) and an L ( a second state) state (hereinafter simply referred to as H and L) and can electrically transit only in one direction from L to H, a memory cell for storing 1-bit data is formed by using two or more memory elements.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for detecting if a semiconductor circuit (100) has been exposed to ultra-violet light. An ultra-violet light detection circuit (200) detects exposure to ultra-violet light and will automatically activate a security violation signal. The security violation signal may optionally initiate a routine to clear sensitive data from memory (140) or prevent the semiconductor circuit from further operation. The ultra-violet light detection circuit detects whether a semiconductor circuit has been exposed to ultra-violet light, for example, by employing a dedicated mini-array of non-volatile memory cells. At least two active bit lines, blprg and bler, are employed corresponding to program and erase, respectively. One of the bit lines is only programmable and the other bit line is only eraseable. Generally, all of the bits in the dedicated non-volatile memory array are initially in approximately the same state, which could be erased, programmed or somewhere in between. An offset current is added to one bit line and a change in the resulting current difference is used to detect an exposure to ultra-violet light.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a program-controlled unit comprising a non-volatile memory that can be repeatedly reprogrammed, for storing data. Said program-controlled unit is characterized in that it contains a memory protection device, which ensures that the contents of the memory, or a specific part of the latter can no longer be modified.
