Abstract:
Imaging offset problems in image systems (100), such as electrophotographic "EPG" printers and copiers, are overcome. Imaging offset results from misaligned exposure units that, when uncompensated, produce dots on a photoreceptor belt (106) at exposure positions that are offset from ideal dot positions. An imaging-offset compensating method of the invention first determines the imaging offset, which is a distance that may include a magnitude and a direction. The imaging offset is determined with respect to the ideal dot position. A time factor is then determined based on the magnitude of the imaging offset for each exposure unit. The time at which each exposure unit is actuated is modified by a respective time factor so that a dot produced by each exposure unit matches the ideal dot location thereof.
Abstract:
Apparatus and process for mounting two individually addressable laser diode arrays so that the angle of the arrays can be changed without losing registration. The second array is used for redundancy and the angle changes serve for changing the imaging resolution. A non-rigid fixture is used to hold both arrays. When changing the angle of one of the arrays, causing it to rotate around a first center of rotation, the fixture deforms so as to rotate the second array around a second center of rotation by the same angle.
Abstract:
An optical system for directing the radiant energy produced by a bar of high power laser emitters to a TIR spatial modulator from which selected rays are directed to a media requiring radiation of high radiant intensity comprises: (a) a plurality of laser radiation sources such as a laser bar having a plurality of emitters; (b) means for collimating at least a portion of the rays provided by the laser radiation sources; (c) first imaging means for providing a first image of the laser radiation sources; (d) means for collimating and means for focusing rays from the first image; (e) means for modulating rays from the first image; (f) second imaging means for providing a second image of the modulated rays: (g) means for separating the diffraction orders of the rays from the modulated second image to permit the passage of only zero order rays; and (h) means for imaging the zero order rays. The system may include an optical mixer in the form of a glass blade to direct the radiated rays from the emitters of the laser bar to the modulator.
Abstract:
The cost of a light-emitting element matrix array is reduced by realizing the same function as that of a light-emitting thyristor by another element. A plurality of combined elements each constituted by a transistor and a light-emitting diode are arranged in line to form a matrix. The combined elements are divided into groups of n elements. The bases of the transistors of each group are connected to base selection lines, and the anodes of the light-emitting diodes of each group are connected to a common anode terminal.
Abstract:
A line scanning type optical printer device which forms a picture by making relative motions while the device emits light toward a sensitive material, and uses LEDs as a light source. On the mounting substrate of the LEDs, each pair of LEDs of the same color is symmetrically arranged with respect to the center of scanning lines. In addition, the lead-out lines for power supply to the LEDs are also laid symmetrically. Moreover, the LEDs are mounted on the mounting substrate together with light shielding members which shield light from the side faces of the LEDs.
