Abstract:
A precision steerable and angled medication delivery system is disclosed. The system may direct a delivery mechanism in connection with a control syringe to delivery sites within a patient's body. In this manner, therapeutic injections may be performed at precise locations as desired.
Abstract:
One embodment is directed to a probe for illuminating a target tissue of a patient, comprising: a plurality of optical fibers; a probe body portion having proximal and distal ends, the probe body portion being moveably coupled to the plurality of fibers and configured to at least partially encapsulate the plurality of fibers; a distal end portion coupled to the distal end of the probe body portion, the distal end portion comprising at least one guiding feature configured to redirect a path of at least one of the optical fibers comprising the plurality of optical fibers as such at least portion of one of the optical fibers is extended through and past the distal end portion by moving the plurality of fibers relative to the probe body portion. The probe further may comprise an ejector portion configured to move the plurality of fibers relative to the probe body portion.
Abstract:
A dropper syringe apparatus includes a cylindrical barrel, a plunger assembly, and a needle. The cylindrical barrel storing the fluid includes a flanged first opening and a second opening. The plunger assembly, inserted into the cylindrical barrel, includes a plunger shaft and a flexible hollow bulb. The plunger shaft includes a flanged upper end, a lower end, and a central lumen. The plunger shaft moves in an upward and a downward direction within the cylindrical barrel. The central lumen extends from the lower to the flanged upper end of the plunger shaft for accommodating the fluid. The flexible hollow bulb is fixedly attached to the flanged upper end and in fluid communication with the central lumen. An external force exerted on the flexible hollow bulb exerts a pressure on the fluid accommodated within the lumen. The needle draws or dispenses the fluid from or to the external body.
Abstract:
A system for delivering an injection of a fluid into a void within a subject is disclosed. A barrel extends from a first end to a second end and forms a lumen extending from the first end to the second end. A plug and a floating seal are arranged within the lumen. A hollow needle includes a distal end with an opening for fluid to flow from the lumen. The plug, the barrel and the floating seal include material and dimensions selected based on a threshold flowrate for a fluid arranged within the lumen to: overcome a force opposed to a force being applied to the fluid in the lumen to move the floating seal and the hollow needle into a tissue of the subject, and succumb to the opposing force to displace the fluid through the opening into the void.
Abstract:
A needle stick prevention device (10, 110) includes a needle shield (20, 120) for selectively covering a distal end of a needle (41, 141). A needle hub (40, 140) is movably received within the needle shield (20, 120). The needle hub (40, 140) includes a proximal end (42, 142), a distal end (46, 146), a needle (41, 141) fixedly connected to the distal end of the needle hub (40, 140), and a plurality of ribs (54) or a cylinder (150) disposed between the proximal and distal ends. An actuation button movably received in a transverse opening of the needle shield (20, 120) to engage the needle shield (20, 120), the needle hub (40, 140) and a medical device. A spring (58, 158) is disposed between the needle hub (40, 140) and actuation member to automatically retract the needle (41, 141) into the needle shield (20, 120).
Abstract:
A multi-piece plunger configured to be slideably advanced through a syringe barrel to expel fluid therefrom is provided. The plunger includes a head portion having a proximal end, a distal end, and an annular sidewall extending therebetween. The sidewall can define at least two annular grooves. The plunger also includes annular seals disposed within each of the at least two annular grooves, such that at least a portion of each of the annular seals protrudes radially beyond an outer surface of the sidewall to form a slideable seal with an inner sidewall of the syringe barrel. The head portion can be formed from a first material, such as a rigid plastic material, and the annular seals can be formed from a second material, such as a thermoset rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer. A prefilled syringe including the multi-piece plunger is also provided herein.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a syringe body, a plunger, a cap, and a dose gauge. The syringe body defines a volume configured to contain a medicament. The dose gauge is disposed about at least a portion of a side wall of the syringe body, and defines a window. The cap is coupled to a proximal end portion of the syringe body, and includes an engagement portion. The plunger has a distal end portion configured to move within the volume to convey the medicament. An engagement portion of the plunger is configured to interface with the engagement portion of the cap to prevent rotation of the plunger about a longitudinal axis of the plunger. An outer surface of the plunger includes a series of indicia. At least one of the indicium is visible through the window when the plunger is in a first position within the volume.
