Abstract: A pen needle shield assembly comprising a hub fixed to a needle cannula, and a movable shield surrounding the hub, the movable shield comprising an upper portion having an outer diameter, a lower portion having an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the upper portion, and a distal opening, wherein the movable shield moves from a first position where the needle cannula is retracted in the movable shield prior to use, to a second position where the needle cannula is extended out of the movable shield through the distal opening for medication delivery and to a third position where the needle cannula is retracted in the movable shield and locked to prevent further use.

The finger-grip element may have a first distally facing surface having a first contour configured to: inhibit or prevent at least a first finger of a user from moving in a radially outward direction with respect to the longitudinal axis during use of the syringe to deliver a drug, and/or exert a first reaction force on at least the first finger of the user in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis during use of the syringe to deliver the drug.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for measuring, recording, and acting in response to changes in air pressures encountered through the lumen of a connected needle. The device signals when it has been powered and signals when the device recognizes both pressures and pressure change rates indicative of intra-articular or synovial cavity joint penetration, such as knee joint penetration. Synovial cavity pressures detected and acted upon may either be supra- (positive) or sub-atmospheric (negative). Internal light emitting diodes and a laptop connected display are demonstrated as signaling and communication mechanisms. Methods for delivering medicaments into human and animal intra-articular cavities or joints such as synovial cavities are provided. Furthermore, methods for facilitating the diagnoses of joint effusion also are provided.
