Abstract:
A moving cellular communication system comprising at least one upgraded moving relay including at least two base station functionalities and at least one mobile station functionality and a relay resource manager, all co-located, wherein each base station functionality from among the at least two base station functionalities of the upgraded moving relay is operative to communicate via antennae with at least one mobile station thereby to define a first radio link therebetween, and wherein each base station functionality has a connection to its co-located relay resource manager, wherein each mobile station functionality of the upgraded moving relay communicates via antennae with a unit which has base station functionality thereby to define at least one second radio link, respectively, wherein the relay resource manager in each individual moving relay comprises a radio resource manager; and functionality for exchanging information with relay resource managers is included in moving relays other than the individual moving relay.
Abstract:
A dynamic hierarchical cellular system implementing multi-hop encapsulation, wherein in at least one message destined for an individual base station functionality, the individual base station functionality's header is encapsulated within an individual mobile station functionality's header, so as to allow said message to be routed by said router to the individual base station functionality, via the individual mobile station functionality.
Abstract:
A system and method for selecting a proxy gateway server for controlling data traffic initiated by a user device roaming on a visited network is disclosed. The method includes utilizing a mobility anchor server associated with the visited network to receive a request to activate a data traffic session from a user device, identify the user device as a roaming user device, and select a proxy gateway server from one or more servers associated with the visited network for controlling the data traffic initiated by the roaming user device. The selection of a proxy server is accomplished by querying a DNS server associated with the visited network with a pre-defined roaming APN string associated with the visited network and, in response to the query, receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) address of the proxy gateway server from the DNS server.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal includes an Internet Protocol (IP) address module that requests and receives a first IP address from a home anchoring point within a home network. The first IP address is an address of the home anchoring point. The system also includes a packet module that exchanges packets with the home anchoring point via a first attachment point. The packets include the first IP address.
Abstract:
A method of facilitating multihoming in the case of a mobile node possessing an Upper Layer Identifier belonging to a home network, where the mobile node is assigned a Global Mobility Management anchor within the home network and a Local Mobility Management anchor within a visited network. The method comprises allocating to the mobile node a primary SHIM6 proxy at said Global Mobility Management anchor, and at least one secondary SHIM6 proxy at said Local Mobility Management anchor. At said primary SHIM6 proxy, a SHIM6 context is established on behalf of the mobile node in respect of a peer node;, and the established context is shared with said secondary SHIM6 proxy. Locator switching is then performed in respect of traffic exchanged between the mobile node and said peer node at one of said primary and secondary SHIM6 proxies.
Abstract:
A system for managing mobile routers connected to a PMIP6 (proxy mobile internet protocol version 6) domain is provided with a plurality of MAGs (mobility access gateways) to which the mobile routers are to be connected, an LMA (local mobility anchor), connected to the plurality of MAGs, for managing location information of the mobile routers and packet forwarding information of the mobile routers, and a profile server in which profile information of the mobile routers is registered. Further, the plurality of MAGs and the LMA set up forwarding information of a home prefix of a mobile router that is connected to the PMIP6 domain and a mobile network prefix managed by the connected mobile router, based on the profile information of the mobile routers registered in the profile server.
Abstract:
A method, system and devices are provided for location update in an e.g. WiMAX based network. An authenticator function is informed on the location of a data path function after a handover has taken place.
Abstract:
Described herein are mechanisms and methods that facilitate utilizing a base station as a regional mobility agent (e.g., regional home agent, regional foreign agent, and/or the like). Thus, a base station can have functionality embedded therein that enables the base station to create tunnels with other base stations and selectively direct data intended for a wireless terminal to those base stations. Such base stations can then transmit the data to the wireless terminal.
Abstract:
A method for implementing proxy mobile Internet protocol (PMIP) in mobile IP foreign agent care-of-address mode may include determining a home address of an access terminal. The method may also include communicating with a home agent in order to bind an address of the network node with the home address of the access terminal and establish a tunnel between the network node and the home agent. The method may also include receiving first packets destined for the access terminal from the home agent via the tunnel and sending the first packets to the access terminal. The method may also include receiving second packets sent by the access terminal that are destined for a correspondent node and sending the second packets to the home agent via the tunnel.
