The invention relates to a method for providing service quality in a WiMAX communication network, and a method for selecting an access transport resource control function by means of a guideline decision-making function in a communication network. According to a method for providing service quality on an air interface (R1) of an access network (ASN) in a WiMAX communication network by means of an application function (AF), the application function aims to provide a user of the WiMAX communication network with a service quality-related application. The desired service quality is signalled by means of an authentication, authorisation and accounting infrastructure of the WiMAX communication network.

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for enabling assignment of a common network address to multiple network interfaces of a computing device attached to a network domain. An apparatus (302) may include a processor (310) configured to send a message to a mobility access gateway (306) comprising a request that a mobile host device (302) be assigned a common network address for simultaneous use on multiple network interfaces of the mobile host device through which the mobile host device is attached to the network domain. A method for accessing a wireless communication network is described, comprising collocating a Proxy Agent apparatus with an Access apparatus and determining in a Mobile Gateway apparatus an address of the Access apparatus.The Proxy Agent apparatus comprises information about a Master apparatus, the Master apparatus being adapted for executing a master function.The method further comprises indicating a message, to be handled by the master function, as a master function message and sending the master function message to the address of the Access apparatus.Furthermore, the method comprises diverting in the Access apparatus the master function message to the Proxy Agent apparatus and forwarding the master function message to a Proxy Relay apparatus for relaying the master function message to the Master apparatus.

The invention provides for roaming support in stationary WiMAX networks. To this purpose, the network is provided with a home agent (HA) and a foreign agent (FA), which are preferably co-located in one unit (FA/HA). A roaming mobile station that supports Mobile IP (MIP) can be attached to the network as follows. After performing an access authentication procedure and establishing a connection between the mobile station (MS) and the network, a MIP agent advertisement message (MIP Adv(CoA)) is sent from the foreign agent (FA) to the mobile station (MS). Then a registration with the home agent (HA) is performed.

Die Erfindung schafft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Umleiten von Nachrichten eines Endgerätes GH, insbesondere eines mobilen Endgerätes, eines ersten Netzwerk-Providers, das über einen Gateway-Knoten GMS eines zweiten Netzwerk-Providers mit einem Zugangsnetz ASN verbunden ist. In den ausgetauschten Nachrichten befinden sich jeweils Netzwerkzugriffsidentifizierungen NAI, welche aus einer Zeichenkette zur Identifizierung des Endgerätes GH und aus einer Zeichenkette zur Adressierung eines Servers des Netzwerk-Providers besteht. Der Netzwerkzugriffsidentifizierer NAI wird in dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren derart umformatiert, das die Nachrichten zunächst nicht an den Server AAA-GH des ersten Netzwerk-Providers, sondern zunächst an den Server AAA-GMS des zweiten Netzwerk-Providers übertragen werden. Nach Auswertung der in den Nachrichten enthaltenen Daten werden die Nachrichten anschließend nach Rückformatierung der Netzwerkzugriffsidentifizierung NAI hin zu dem Server AAA-GH des ersten Netzwerk-Providers weitergeleitet.
